a friend is flying to the US at the end of the month, im asking him to bring back a guitar for me, but i couldnt seem to find a guitar center in downtown miami (he ll be staying in a hotel somewhere in collins ave, is that right?) or any other store in any case.

i want either a fender jimmie vaughan or a classic player 50's strat, same for me really, prices should be same or less than GC (unless theres no other choice)

also, if someone could help him pick up the guitar and choose one that sings well, that would be HUGE. (this is gonna happen in the last days of august)

thanks!

ps: my friend doesnt know anything about guitars, he couldnt tell a strat from a 335. is there anything i should keep in mind? what about the plane travel? is it ok if he dispatches it as fragile luggage?

He may end up paying at customs if he's bringing a guitar back. What I've read other people do is bring a cheap guitar with them, in a case, buy the new guitar, ditch the old one, and carry it home in the same case.

I haven't done it, so I can't guarantee that it works, but I've read about other people trying it. It may be worth it to pick up a cheap guitar and a nice case at home, and have him carry it to Miami.

He can sell the guitar to wherever he buys the new one for you.

For GC you might have to search Broward or Palm Beach County.

Hello LukeGilmour,

When your friend returns home
let us all here at the Forum
Know how it went.

There's gonna be a tale to tell.

What country are you in?

Cheers.
