I'm just starting to get set up for recording so I'm sure it will help some.

I don't subscribe to either, but I prefer Guitar World for looking at. As someone said before, it focuses more on classic rock and metal, and those genres are primarily what I play. I also occasionally browse the guitar world site for their reviews and tutorials and interviews and such.

Nice! They have some good lessons on different guitar playing styles. I also enjoy Vintage Guitar magazine from time to time.

For anyone into recording, there is a great magazine subsciption being offered for no charge to USA residents called Tape Op.

www.tapeop.com

They're based in Sacramento, CA and every month's issue is chock full of tip and tricks for recording as well as recording gear reviews. 8)

Thanks Mike - free is always good. :P

Neither. After a few years it's the same ol crap over and over only with different rock stars to pitch it.

I used to buy GP every month, and Guitar World and some others from time to time.
After GW added tabs I would get it, or others with tabs, if I liked most of the songs--or in some cases one song I really liked.

Eventually they all got the same, and I got bored with them.

Now I read them every now & then, but mostly I borrow them from the library or read online articles.

Premier Guitar --http://www.premierguitar.com/Main/Default.aspx
has a lot of online articles.

I subscribe to Guitar Player. Guitar World just hits me as being a 'fanzine' more than anything else. I've had a few UK guitar mags go through my hands in the last few years, and they seem to have a refreshingly different point of view on guitars, sometimes. From what I remember, the UK mags seem to focus on utility as much as desirability. I need to find a B & N in my neighborhood and check those mags out again.
