£280,000 ($495,000) for burnt Hendrix guitar

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7597220.stm

It sold for about what it was estimated at and for half as much as many initially projected... hmm...

I have not seen any details regarding who it was that purchased the guitar. I am jelous. :D

The Fender Stratocaster, burnt at the end of a show in north London in 1967, was bought by collector Daniel Boucher from Boston, Massachusetts.

The guitar being played...

Take a close look at the neck when he holds it up.

The back of the neck looks like a dead giveaway to me.
From what they claim the guitar was burnt and put away when it was two years old!

Probably less, as its a '65 guitar burnt in March '67.

I have never seen a two-year-old Strat, nitro lacquer or any other in that state after 2 years and this is a guitar owned by a man noted for not sticking to one guitar for any length of time.

It would take some convincing that it is genuinely what they claim it to be.

Eh... I would keep in mind the fact that Hendrix was known to have his guitar strapped on pretty much all the time. Plus, maybe the guitar wasn't locked away for years. Maybe Garland actually played the crap out of it for the past 40 years and finally decided to sell it? Who knows, right...

Yep...and who knows what the original owner did to it before Jimi bought it?
