My girlfriend and I just finished recording a version of "Away In A Manger," which I played bass on, and she did everything else. She also plays bass, but I wanted to play on this. It was the first time I've ever played on any Christmas music. It was fun to do. Here's a simple video she made for it to put on her YouTube page. 8)

Interesting arrangement. I like it.
Thanks for posting.
It that bass line yours or were you following something she'd written?

Thank you. 8) I wrote the bass line myself. She came up with everything else.

Very nice Paul. It has a nice calm tone to it.

You and Jenn got me in the Christmas mood, Paul. Great job on your version of a classic Christmas/Hymn song. Lots to like. Thanks!

Thank you, everyone. 8) I've never played on any sort of Christmas music before, although Jenn has sang plenty of it from when she started singing as a child in various school programs, and things like that. We did our own interpretation of it, with her arranging everything and recording it all, except she let me play bass on it, even though she's more than capable of doing so. It's not exactly like other versions, which I've heard, which are usually done by country artists, it seems, except probably the main vocal melody, I'm sure. I'm looking forward to hopefully doing that every year for Christmas. It's certainly a departure from what I usually do, although hopefully not so much in the 3/4 or waltz timing. That's kind of a pain in the arse to do, although not as bad as 5/4 or 7/8. :P

Ir’s obvious you two had fun doing it, and that’s always a good thing, Paul. :D

Yeah, I like the concept of taking an old song and seeing what you can do with it, as well.
