Thanks guys good to be back, Brad really helped me out getting back my original status and I am hoping to participate more often now. Good to see a lot of familiar guitar players still here keeping the faith. This always was a great forum. My best to fhop. G.

I've been in touch with Frank. He's doing okay and wishes everyone well.

Whoa! That sucks. Thanks for the link. Mike. I’ll tune in to catch up on the latest videos. Stay safe, Frank.

My thoughts and prayers go out to those affected. I have divided feelings knowing that for the majority there is no alternative but to take the bad with the good. For a few accepting the dangerous weather on a regular basis there are choices that could be something else. We have that situation here too in a province that is no stranger to massive flooding and winter storms amongst other hazards. Most, but not all, have little life threatening certainly compared to a hurricane.

One has to wonder how long support will be available, and how much to expect when the sky clears and reality sets in. There will always be applause and boos; however, some things are bigger than infrastructure can handle, and better choices are often declined for personal rather than practical reasons. Oddly, those are the ones who usually holler the loudest. This is not the usual case understandably. Regardless, hurricanes suck, and I hope any pain and loss will be brief.

In the last decade we here in Manitoba have been regrettably included with our good neighbours in North Dakota and Minnesota, and we are now officially part of Tornado Alley.

Oh sure, tornados have always been sighted in the province; but, they are more frequent and much larger now. So far they have been in less populated rural areas such as the F5 that visited the city limits’ farmland.

My hope is that it remains that way with our recent National Warning system tested out as late as this year, and somewhat in place with minor bugs to work out.

Tonight we are expecting a major storm, heavy rain, high winds, possibly large hail and, for the first time that I can remember, we were given a full Tornado Warning, now downgraded to a Tornado Watch for the city of Winnipeg. If one were to hit here that would be a game changer.
Right now the tv is giving me a current look just outside the city at a provincial park where a large annual Folk Festival with open field camping is underway. I hope they’ll be safe with the large black billowing disturbance over them, and soon to be over us. Doesn’t look friendly. Let’s hope this is one time the weatherman is wrong.

Thoughts and prayers to the Lousiana/Texas Forum-Mates. Have yet to check FB to see if Rebecca Laird's back to Houston from her Ireland/Scotland summer as of yet. We are booked to travel through there on Sunday headed for Puerto Vallarta. I suppose we'll know more by Saturday evening as to the flying. Meanwhile there's area of interest in the South Atlantic lovingly named Invest 93L which the 'experts' are monitoring. If a major storm brews out of that, we won't be around but the house will. Life's not necessarily a beach, even though there may be one nearby. :|

Doc

That's great to hear that you've been in touch with Frank, Mike! Please tell him I said hello. As for me: still around here every now and then although definitely keep behind-the-scenes here a bit more than I did in the early days. One thing I definitely *do* very regularly here is to stop by and quickly have a look at postings from all new members to ensure their initial postings appear up to snuff ... one of the reasons we haven't had a spam problem here in a good long while!
