Does anyone know anything about the "Yosemite" pickups?
They retained the Jumbo frets and satin neck finish from the AmSpec, but those tuners are interesting... Vintage Kluson style, but without mounting screws on the back. I wonder if they fit the pin pattern of the standard production tuners?
It would be cool if someone came up with a locking version of this design, especially if it fits the general production pattern.

The good news about that series: you can split the DoubleTap humbuckers without volume loss; the operation is doable using a push-pull pot. You can also activate the neck pickup on the three single-coil setup and obtain the neck+bridge and humbucking in series (all 3 pickups on) combinations!

That Mustang bass certainly has got my interest. https://shop.fender.com/en-US/electric- ... 20345.html Although, the JMJ Road Worn Mustang is $200 cheaper, and resembles closer to a vintage model in it's specs.

Due to the Jazz Bass layout the jack is side-mounted as there wasn't enough room for it on the control plate.

The neck has graphite reinforcements for stability and - judging the notched pickguard - the truss rod is accessible from the heel.

Yeah, I noticed that. Oddly enough, the Mustang Bass PJ has only two knobs with the plate mounted jack, and yet has the extra J pickup. I'm assuming with that one that there's only one volume knob for that one. I haven't looked at the specs in a long time.

The Mustang PJ has a 3-way toggle for pickup selection whereas the US Performer uses the classic J-Bass 3-knob arrangement with separate volumes for each pickup and a master GreaseBucket tone control.

As the control plate was too small for a top-mounted input jack the socket was placed in the bottom side.

Filling the gap left by the Highway One series?

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

The American Special already tried to do that to some extent...

On the Yosemites, courtesy of Sweetwater website:
Quote:
Neck pickup: Yosemite Strat single-coil (Alnico 4, 7.8K)
Middle pickup: Yosemite Strat RWRP single-coil (Alnico 4, 8.5K)
Bridge pickup: Yosemite Strat single-coil (Alnico 2, 8.9K)

The chosen AlNiCo4 is new to Fender (Edit: AFAIK), and just by numbers those seem hot (that was my hunch, too, ever since the first rumors), and there doesn't seem to be anything to tame them in the wiring.
A PCB Greasebucket for minimizing costs... But behind a switch, so no need for rewiring to strip it. 8)

Any information about the DoubleTap humbuckers for bridge and neck positions?

Had the chance to play with a Copper SSS American Performer Strat a bit more yesterday and the pickups are definitely higher output. The Push/Pull feature on the second tone control knob is also an interesting feature. It adds the neck pickup to other positions. Pull it up in position one and the neck pickup gets added to the bridge pickup and it's Tele in the middle position time.

The Sea Foam Green HSS Strat already sold so I didn't get to play it again.

The two Yosemite singles in the neck & middle positions are wound extra hot for proper balance with the DoubleTap humbucker in the bridge.
