Best I can suggest is to send all the relevant info to Fender Consumer Relations. What ever you find on the headstock or neck plate. Perhaps even a photo of the guitar and the numbers. Necks by letter are historically rated A>D with each letter given to a specific width at the nut. Down the road, cross-section shapez morphed into letters such as C, D, U and V with various modifications of same...such as 'modern C' or a '57 V.

Are you saying that this is a '98 Squier with the headstock number MN891451? You don't mention the model.
You might be lucky enough that they still have the specs of that guitar in their 'impossibly managed' records.

Doc

*Squier

I don't understand the question. Are you looking for the specs for the neck? Like neck radius, scale length, etc? I would imagine you could measure it to get those measurements...

Taping around a Fender neck for 'shape' can be a chase. My Gilmour and my ''89 Strat Plus both have 'C' necks of very different vintages and shape. My '87, '89 Claptons', my Deluxe Strat, have V-necks which are all different. Judging from the guitar described, and the nature of the question and questioner, I expect that he'd benefit having got a spec sheet from Fender, if possible, on what went into the guitar carrying that serial number.

Doc

Usually, the Fender/Squier serial numbers can only identify the era when an instrument was built; in some cases the model group (like SE with signature models). They don't tell specs without a cross reference with Fender's databases, and a lot of the MN-serialed instruments aren't in those.

But here we may be lucky: AFAIK, the only Squier Strats made in Mexico in the MN8-period were "Standard" models.
And with Standards, it's with all likelihood a modern C, 9.5" radius.
But there can be quite a lot of variation between individual necks, as Doc mentions.

A little more info on the guitar might help further...

With that in mind, he could find his way to any dealer with the guitar, and look on the 'el cheepo' wall, new or used for an MN headstock, and compare.
