I was there on June 6. If you're anything like me, you could spend at least five hours there.

Definitely look at the Les Paul mini-exhibit. It's in the "Founders of Rock" section, and shows the evolution of the Les Paul, from "The Log" and "The Rail" to what I believe is a Les Paul heavily modified by the man himself. It was like a Les Paul Recording Guitar, but with a few more switches.

The top floor is dedicated to The Doors (at least it was two months ago), and it's pretty cool. The floor below that is a look at "Help!" (the movie). The videos they're showing are just the behind-the-scenes from the DVD released earlier this year... but when you walk into the room, and turn right, you're presented with John Lennon's Gibson J-160E. I spent ten minute staring at that alone.

It's hard to see everything. I never did go through the basement part, which I believe is actually the hall of fame. I was with a group, and we had three hours to go to the Rock Hall and the museum next door. I only spent twenty minutes in the museum.

In the gift shop, there's a display case of "articfacts" being sold by another company. It's mostly fan club-style stuff, from the fifties or sixties. They were selling three pieces of Paul McCartney's hair for $500. They had George, too.

Thank you for all the tips. I will be sure to look for John Lennon's Gibson J-160E.

I did go downstairs where they had a display case of famous guitars... they had the original Joe Strummer Telecaster, and Johnny Cash's J-200.

Johnny Cash's tour bus is parked outside, and you can go in it for $3. I definitely recommend it. It's worth the $3, I think.

Now that interests me... I'd like to see that display of guitars, so I will keep that as a definite to see. Thanks for telling me that.

It's only a slight exaggeration to say that you'll spend most of your time lost. They don't have the most efficient escalator system.

Folks,

I am back... must say I thoroughly enjoyed the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

I made sure I got to see what I went for so I could get my fill in one day. I was most interested in all of the guitars. The Jerry Garcia custom guitars were a wonderful set to look at, along with John Paul John's custom bass.

I avoided the movies and videos as they were too long to sit through, and would not have allowed time to catch other interests.

The Jimi Hendrix exhibit was good with his history and many outfits he wore when performing, but they only had two of his guitars, and they were not the Fender Strats.

The Janis Joplin Porsche was a delight to look at with all of it's intricate art works all over it.

The Doors exhibit was well done, and they had tons of Beatles stuff... perhaps too much on the Beatles.

But all in all, I found the place to be of great interest and would recommend the visit to anyone interested in the history of Rock Music.

Thanks for all the advice before I went on the trip so I knew what to look for.

Ummm ... He is in the Rock Hall. He is just not in twice. He is in the hall the same number of times that John Bonham, Keith Moon, and Neal Peart are. So ... he is in good company, I think.

From an article I read on Saturday's ceremonies :

"The Moody Blues

"I'm Just a Singer (In a Rock and Roll Band)
"Nights in White Satin"
"Question"

We expect The Moodies or The Cars to go first. The Moody Blues have been known to open sets with "I'm Just a Singer (In a Rock and Roll Band)." It could go either way with "Nights and White Satin" and "Tuesday Afternoon" second, while "Question" feels like a proper closer."

Dire Straits

"Sultans of Swing" cover

Random prediction of something that hasn't been rumored or suggested. Heck, it's probably not even possible - Trey Anastasio's spring tour kicks off in Cleveland on April 17. What if he comes to town early and his band plays its cover of "Sultans of Swing." Look, the Dire Straits drama has been so ridiculous, you can't blame us for dreaming something might salvage it.

The Cars

"Good Times Roll"
"Drive"
"Just What I Needed" (With Brandon Flowers)

"Good Times Roll" and "Just What I Needed" feel like safe bets. The latter could likely feature Brandon Flowers, who is inducting the band. The Killers have covered the song in concert. We have "Drive" sandwiched in there over songs like "My Best Friend's Girl" and "You're All I've Got Tonight," because A) It would be a nice tribute to Benjamin Orr and B) It keeps the entire set from highlighting just one album.

Bon Jovi

"Runaway"
"Wanted Dead or Alive"
"Livin' on a Prayer"

This is Bon Jovi's typical encore set. If the band does get a fourth song, I could see them opening with "Have a Nice Day" or "Bad Medicine." The biggest moment of the night will come when Richie Sambora gets up there to perform "Livin' on a Prayer" and (Please, please, please, let it happen) "Wanted Dead or Alive."

All-Star Jam

"Old Time Rock and Roll"

I find the All-Star Jam works best when it transitions from the final band's performance. That means it would be a song that Bon Jovi has covered. And doesn't Bob Seger's "Old Time Rock and Roll" pretty much some up this entire night?"
