Dang, that's cold. Don't forget your Bermuda shorts. 8) I'm not even going to say what it is here.

That’s very kind of you, Marky. Come to think of it, Bermuda shorts and snowmobile boots might start a trend. I’ll make sure to give you the credit. :P
It was a high of 27°F / -3°C today. Shoveled some snow plow ice today, two rows deep; but, thanks to the milder weather it didn’t clump up which it can do very quickly where you pretty much have to chip away at it (a real pain if they plow when your not home, especially late at night, and when you arrive to a problem that can prevent you from getting in your driveway unless you have the tools like a new spring loaded broad ice pick) so that warmer weather was a good thing. :D

 Oh, thank you. I appreciate that. This winter doesn't seem as bad as last year for you. How's your arm/hand holding up?

Than you, Marky. The hands are doing pretty good. It seems to be more in the summer when I’m more active putzing around in the yard with tools, gardening or whatever. I’m getting back to the guitar which is not getting the time in I’d like because of domestic affairs so that may have some impact. Can’t say. I have an intermittent painful thumb on my fret hand, but my guess it’s old age arthritis. The arm? Far from what it was - both ways. Most of the time it’s very good; but, I’m guessing it is as good as it will get and, yes, it flares up still, but not as bad, and not as often. It feels like somebody pressing hard with their thumb and sometimes the underside forearm gives a burning feeling. I count myself as lucky with nothing to compare with what others have to go through. I’m used to it now, and it doesn't stop me; although, I might open an eye or two when sleeping.

I’d advise stents through the groin (which was restrictive for me) instead of the arm if possible, and yet my buddy has no issues. My arm got a lot of action though with the complications I had. The rest of the healing has taken longer than I thought it would, but now it’s very good and seems to have had stages up and down and increasingly good, minor angina aside. I had a small problem in September while driving on a road trip, and later in October, but that was likely stress related when my mother passed. But, now everything has eased off much better, not completely but I have nothing to gauge what completely is (neither does the doc). All three inline stents include the largest of their type and have built in slow release medication, and that, along with placement, is likely the difference from some procedures both with and without them doing their thing which takes time for the complete recovery to end it’s application which could have something to do with feeling the changes in it all. New technology will see dissolving stents or miniature bots, both of which are under development. I wish. I’m doing good and can do most everything, but I peak out a little sooner; but, I digress. I hope you are doing better too. i know a lot of you are warm and cozy. :D
Since this is about the temperatures, we can’t complain about the winter so far. Some extremely frigid days, but the rest are manageable with a toque.

I’m being a little, maybe overly, cautious this month to stay away from world traveling ethnic groups in this city (such as malls and family who just got back from airport to airport on their winter vacation). The flu is very bad around here, people are quarantined back east for observation with the Wuhan flu believed to have arrived in Canada as elsewhere, and I’m doing what I can short term, and the new humidifier seems to help, :D
We keep the humidity around 30% and, because of two floors in an older home, temperature inside is around 23 - 24°C (around 74° upstairs) with the slow variable fan running. Any more humidity and the windows ice up with outside temps. There is an automatic thermostat setting for windows and it may drop humidity to approx, 24%. Betcha miss that Chicago chill, huh, Marky?
The Peg: 20°F / -7°C. Humidity 81%

Note: Flu shots are free here, how about in the U.S., Britain, and elsewhere?

Although, I don’t subscribe as per my doc, I understand those who do. Unfortunately, my neighbours who do get the shots are now dealing with the flu. Ya just never know, and I guess it takes a little luck.

Stay cozy and well this winter gang. One more day closer to Spring and Summer. Whoo hoo! :P Then we’ll trade temperatures.

Most private insurance and Medicare in the U.S. cover flu shots but this new strain
they've found that originated in Asia looks real bad. The Corona Virus :

That’s the scuttle butt here too, Mike. Thanks, for the reply and link. Usually I roll with it, but today I heard in this smaller population of around 34 million, 300,000 to 350,000 die each year with flu related issues. I can only guess the amount on your side of the border. Add to that and they said (at first report) a majority of those casualties in Wuhan were in their 70s, I’m a candidate for some of those things to look out for - repeated history of bronchitis and pneumonia from a young to not so young age, and antibiotics allergies. Then again I’m young at heart. :P I’ll be happy to hear that data change. I wrote a university report on AIDS, what it is and isn’t, the spending feasibilities, and I touched on
interesting rotaviruses. Rotavirus change appears to be the plan with this latest flu.

I guess I better get started on that hot hit song. That’ll take a long time, so I won’t be affected. I don’t have time for the flu.

At 04:00 it's 45°/7° with an expected high of 71°/22° and sunny.

Gary - it sounds like you're doing well overall and that's good to hear. You were blessed with fine doctors and their teams. Too bad you're still having trouble with your arm though. I was hoping that would have cleared up by now. Maybe it will get better yet. Try not to push yourself too hard.

I got the flu shot this year for the first time in seven years, I think. My primary doc talked me into it because I've had pneumonia three times in the past two years. It was free for us older folks. When I worked at the hospital, we pretty much had to get it. The alternative was to wear a mask all day long from October to March. There were only a handful of people who chose the mask over the flu shot.

Only one more week of January left and, like you say, we're one day closer to summer. Stay well and have fun. In no time, you'll be playing your acoustic on the patio again. :)

Thank you Marky, You too my friend. Stay healthy and enjoy the rays

This will be the first warm season in some time that Mrs. FSB and I have had without some obligation. Time to get a lot of catchup as we’’ve been working on have to dos outside in bits and pieces, and I am just about completed where I can kick back and enjoy it or watch others do the work in the heat. Just like when I rented. Whoo boy. I seem to recall them was lazy days with little or no to dos. Unlike you lucky ducks down south, our season is pretty short, and even shorter if you consider after winter cleanup, growing grass, killing weeds, and before winter storage. But, skeeters are few and far between these days, and last year we had almost no yellow jackets. I’d like to see that again. We could have used more rain though as it was pretty dry, and I’ll need to plant where I dug up the bushes lost.

24°F / -6°C high right now. :shock:18°F / -8°C low
Whoopee! Where’s my sun tan lotion?
