Presto changeo. One day it’s sun tan lotion . . . next day it’s toque weather. Krazy, huh?

In the ‘Peg:
High expected 21° F / - 6° C
Snow showers this afternoon

Snow Tuesday and
Wednesday
with a Low - 22°F expected.

Sunny Thursday
Snow Friday

But, to add to that the city has an unprecedented spike of both A and B versions of the flu and respiratory illnesses to deal with. Usually they don’t arrive all at once and some not this early. Emergencies are averaging 120 more patients per day than they did last year. Maybe colder weather will ease matters, hopefully. Nope!

Yeah, it's weird. I think it's supposed to go back into the 30's in the next couple of days, maybe some snow. I don't mind the warm weather, though. It beats dealing with any blizzards.

Actually, I’m happy for you. That's pretty nice and you all deserve it in that neck of the country. There’s still a lot of winter to go, and I know how that goes on the east coast. Gotta love that warm weather when you can, Paul. 8)
Enjoy.

Yeah, it was a nice break, and reminded me of spring. The thing is, we're already almost half way through January, and even though there's still February to go, it really hasn't been that bad so far, knock on wood. I remember two years ago digging out the car and walkway from a blizzard. We've barely gotten any snow, although a lot of rain, if anything.

Had to turn on the AC this week....I really look forward to sub $100 electric bills in the winter.
10 degrees above normal highs and 15 degrees above normal lows.
Woke up to another 69 this morning, supposed to get near 75 w/ 40% chance of rain; otherwise it would be near 82-84.

No climate change on this day. Pretty much typical.
Relatives from here vacationing in Mexico are enjoying typical temperature too. Hmm?

Still, there is climate change, and always will be somewhere. For us . . . everywhere.

Perhaps, our turn will come in the Summer. Here in Manitoba we had the ice age covering where I sit, where
green grass and trees now grow, close to where woolly mammoths and large prehistoric sea creatures inland were excavated not far from our melted ice puddle Great Lake and 100,000 lakes, and where a windy dust bowl in the 1930s cut a swath down the centre of North America, and here where below zero -40° and 80° to 90°F is not uncommon, where snow and drought, torrential prairie storms with lightning, rain, hail. and tornadoes take their turn with the regular southern province wide flooding, and throw in wildfires up north just to make it complete. What's the difference? It’s not concentrated in a small area, and not new here, just more inconsistent and less predictable; although, weather services have been cut back and redistributed. Preparation and experience is habitual, priorities are set and investments are made, and for some . . . a move is in order. Others adapt.

Having come from a land where snow was only seen from a distance in my youth, snow is now becoming an unwelcome stranger on a semi regular basis, and summer heat now calls for air conditioning that may not exist. The climate from the past, and likely the historical sea level, is paying a return visit.

Note: Some areas that appear liveable today have been deserts during the ice age.

We talk of things on record. In the larger picture, some is theory and much is not on record with the Earth’s age estimated to be 4.54 billion years old! Compare that with the last 5 years being the hottest temperatures on record since 1880!? Prior to that modern record keeping was a dream, although some clues existed; but, they are less than thorough with the time machine. Rising and lowering sea level and landscape changes amongst migration are noticeable to a great extent, however.

FYI
Briefly:

Suffice to say location plays a big part in how one is affected. It certainly would be a consideration of mine. He says in the great white north. YMMV

Climate change can be found on the moon without seasons and on Mars as with other planets and moons. Some have no atmosphere, some have more or less tilts, different rotation, less or no water to soak up the heat (Yep! That’s how it works.), different winds, and a lot of similar and different characteristics. Some have similar climate histories such as ice ages, some have had and are cooling and/or heating.

Global warming and climate change are related, but not the same. Both are legitimate concerns, but don’t expect industry supported government and related scientists to change things for the better. They are also the reason why we are where we are now, and historically we have been duped into thinking they had it under control. We smartly bought into it.

Control is the key word. Anytime failed industry, government, and partisan educators lead the way, I’d look the other way first, and then weigh the options. Nuff said. Maybe, that budding scientist in the garage, perhaps, from a land far away or in one’s backyard, has an answer. Or maybe it’s right in front of our nose. Or maybe . . .

A moratorium for a climate change solution is needed IMHO, and once an independent answer has a long term calculated consensus, we could take satisfaction that options have been weighed and considered. Otherwise, we follow Napoleon’s method of decisions. Basically, “You want change? You got it. Here’s the offer and, perhaps, one other, none that meet your chosen preference. Take it or leave it.” Unfortunately, the power house connected competition is ready to promote and ramify with quick, but less thoughtful or incomplete solutions knocking at the door. We’ll have no one to blame but ourselves for falling short of a better answer, and we’ll miss that smart investment for a better long term return. Again.

Lay the benefits and disadvantages out on the table, give me fully responsible and meaningful options that are affordable, and I’ll move to the front of the line. We’re in a hole and I’d hate to think being in a hurry will create a bigger one. Why stop at just one benefit and disadvantage? Phht!

I guess that’s what makes the world go ‘round. I’m going out to chill. :P
Fun thing to do in a climate of cold weather:

It's cold, was 7* F but now up to 20* F - my grab and go rig tonight. Too cold for lugging heavier gear.

Put your woolies on and grab yer toque, Mike.

The ‘Peg:
19°F hi and 5°F lo -7°C hi. / -15°C lo
Pretty similar, huh?

Colder on the weekend, but low 20s Fahrenheit next week. We’ll take it.

Snow today and tomorrow as winter is, hopefully, at it’s peak for the season, cold aside.
