How come we’re being punished? At least we know others may get colder over the winter. Odds are we’ll get warmer.

Better get the shorts and muscle shirts out.

Ridiculously cold, nanuk is laughing at Chicago. All of the people who want to get rid of buildings had their fires last night because they knew the fire department couldn't put them out, all of the hydrants are frozen, total loss, hello insurance man. -12 now -25 tonight, expect more fires lol. I know that isn't funny it's just sad sarcasm.

22 degrees, with a wind chill of 9 degrees. It's suppose to drop down to 6 degrees for an overnight low, with wind speed 14 to 23 MPH and gusts up to 43 MPH. It's pretty cold out. There's a little bit of snow, too. Nothing too serious, though.

-26°F -40°F windchill in the ‘Peg.

-32°C and, get this, it’s also -40°(C) windchill.

Cool, huh?
Not cool is that 5 minutes outside can give you frostbite.

Keep those home fires burnin’, Rollie. Naw, just kiddin’ (sic).

Keep toasty everyone.

Early this morning I saw a report that mentioned Minnesota was at or around -62° with the windchill in some spots. Brutal. That’s krazy cold. Stay safe, Minnesotaman.

Dang! I knew it. I should have opened a toque store. They would have gone well with the authentic mukluks in the mall down the street, and both would have looked great on the -40 below Ohio State Buckeyes, phreddybee. :P

Next thing you know, we’ll be winter vacationing up north in the Arctic for warmer weather. -19°C feels like -31°C / -2°F about -30°F windchill in Tuktoyaktuk, NWT at this moment. For a little more comfort if’s -4°F with a windchill of -22°F in warm Barrow, Alaska. That just ain’t right I figure. Oh, well at least I have ice in my drink. Cheers!

5am and -20, wind chill -40. No postal service, Amtrack closed down, Metra limited service, CTA buses parked on the streets as warming spots for the homeless, O'Hare and Midway thousands of canceled flights, one more day, hopefully, and back to normal temps.

Yep; 3 days of double digit negatives here in Iowa (Canada gives it to us...we send it to Chicago). Friday it starts to climb into the 20's...then Saturday and Sunday will be low to mid 40's. Enjoy it while we can, because winter is far from over in the Midwest---February has always been the worst in my memory.

With this weather surrounding the continent, and after watching the videos on TV this morning, and finding Chicago looks like something out of a movie, it’s plain to see that you can run, but you can’t hide.

When I moved back to the prairies from the westcoast, I had a block heater installed in my car for the winter trip; but, not until the rookie kid was shown what one was by the parts manager who had to search for one since they were not in the cars from the warmer climate. I’m thinking those and in car heaters might be a good investment elsewhere. Then you can have fun telling everyone that you have an electric car when they ask what the plug is hanging from your grill. Nothing like driving away and down the street when you back up dragging a cord on your travels because you forgot that you plugged in the night before. That’s so common, eh. People here don’t even question it.

-13°F and -32°F with windchill.
-25C/ -36°C

Tomorrow and Saturday the temperatures will be half of that with snowfall both days.
