Without a FR bridge. Would that be a bad thing? Someone told me that it wouldn't be a problem, but I usually like to hear from other sources before I judge that so quickly.

If you are not having any problems with the current nut, tuning, etc. I personally would just leave it as is.

There isn't anything wrong with the nut, its just one of those Strat trems. It knocks me out of tune when I used it (I've blocked it now). But if I can get a locking nut to keep that from happening, then I was thinking of un-blocking my Strat's trem.

Just a thought.

I would have the balance on the bridge set up done by a tech to see if that is the problem. With the balance set up just right there should be no tuning issues.

I'll take that into consideration, thanks! :D

I have a locking nut and bridge on my strat plus...it honestly never goes out of tune, but if you play a show make sure to have a backup because if you break a string it's not a quick fix. I would say go for it.

All wonderful suggestions...I really appreciate the help, thanks.

...with that said though, how much would it cost to have [the Strat body routed] to insert a Floyd Rose + Locking Nut? I'm seriously considering putting in a Floyd system. :|

This came up recently. A Floyd Rose type system has fine tuning control on the bridge. Without that fine tuning control, the locking nut will cause you headaches: when you need to make slight tuning changes, you will have to unlock it, tune it, relock it.

Other than that issue, there's no reason you couldn't use a locking nut.
