Hi guys,

New here, have a question regarding the Fender Duo Sonic HS...

I currently play a Johnny Marr Jag and love it, it's just gorgeous. My sound mainly ranges from jangly to quite full and rich textures. Big fan of The Edge, Jemma Thompson from Savages and of course Marr.

I've just tried out a Duo Sonic HS and absolutely loved it - ideally looking to make it my second guitar for gigs. Only thing is I make so much use of both the whammy bar and the harmonics behind the bridge (not sure what the technical term for this is, apologies) on the Jag, and of course the Duo has neither. I was wondering if:

a) anyone thought it possible and worth it to experiment getting a new bridge piece fitted so I could fit a whammy bar on the Duo?

b) there are anymore suggestions of models that might fit the bill better. I'm aware some Mustang models come with a whammy however I was ideally looking for a fairly low price point as my Jag is my go-to.

Thanks in advance!
Rachel

Welcome to the Forum Rachel! Congratulations, a Johnny Marr Jag is a very special instrument. Modifying a new Duo Sonic might cost more overall then getting something like a standard Strat for your second guitar.

Nice that you could join us, Rachel.

That’s a tough question on retro-fitting a trem on the Duo-Sonic. It’s reported that it is a love/hate relationship with the Mustang trem. Bigsby is seen on hot-rodded Duo-Sonics, but there are costs and typical issues for Bigsby too. Not that it’s bad, just different.

I don’t know if this would work for you. The Player series seems to be getting some good attention.
