Fender's chief executive officer talks about a recently conducted research claiming that half of beginner guitar players are female and that new guitarists overall are interested in learning guitar not to become rock stars, but for personal enjoyment and self-improvement.

Phil McKnight who has a popular YT channel and also a guitar academy here in town did a video back in 2016 about how he was teaching more and more girls and titled it Is Taylor Swift the new EVH. The video caught on and was even picked up by Guitar Player and Guitar World, and spawned a lot of discussion, and a bit of ribbing from some of his YT contemporaries. It's an interesting video and encouraging to know it's no longer a boys club, that's all I can say.
