Wow! That is unique, alright. I wonder what it sounded like.
probably not much different than this.

Thanks for the video, ghost_of_strings. It sounds better than I imagined.

I Googled the Stanley Jordan synth guitar but nothing came up. It looks interesting.

Wow! Stanley Jordan is an amazing musician and the Ztar is a trip. I never saw anything like that. I checked out Starr Labs website for a demo and they have different models. Thanks ghost_of_strings!

Awesome stuff ghost_of_strings and Marky. Thanks, for the posts.

Here’s what was a £10,000 (app. $13,000) English instrument of which only 100 were made until the company folded. Apparently, used ones are difficult to find. The lack of MIDI added to it’s demise.

The G-707 - and G-77 bass - with the coat hanger stabilizer was Roland's final and unsuccessful move in the guitar synth market despite its endorsement by Andy Summers, Eric Clapton, Neal Schon and others. The synth giant continues offering synth pickup systems for electric guitars and basses.

"I got the pedalboard and the memory bank; the guitar is interchangeable. I bought the new model [G-707] and couldn’t play it, because it kept sliding off my lap. So, I got one with the old Strat shape [G-505], and the electronics are more or less identical. And that inspired me, just picking it up and playing a chord."

Eric Clapton @ Montreal in 1985 performing Never Make You Cry with his Roland G-505 guitar synth

This is the complete footage from the concert. Enjoy!
