She'll always command my R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

You go, girl......far too early IMO but RIP nonetheless.

It was always amazing when she would sing on stage with anyone else. There was a 'divas' series a while back and I remember even Mariah Carey sounded weak next to her. RIP Aretha.

I guess we knew this was going to happen, because of the unfortunate earlier news. She had one hell of a set of pipes on her, that's for sure! A legend. RIP, Aretha. You'll be quite missed. :(

Aretha Franklin is said to be worth tens of millions of dollars much of which she donates and gives to others. Personally, I think Aretha’s worth is priceless. We are fortunate to have had her.

Condolences to family, and friends.

May she rest in peace.

The world is getting poorer and poorer with all these wonderful musians and singers dying.

When I was in elementary school, I used to listen to music on an alarm clock radio in my bedroom. Soul and R&B were big back then, so I listened to a lot of Aretha. She was an amazing person and singer, and left us a body of work that will never grow old.

RIP, Aretha Franklin.

It's been revealed that Aretha died intestate (without a will), leaving the heirs to squabble over the estimated $80M estate. Of that figure, the state of Michigan will take roughly half right off the top while probate lawyers will share approximately 35% of the remainder. That leaves only about $26M to split up among the relatives. Whoever her business manager and financial advisor were, they certainly didn't do her any favors. Five years from now, the kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, etc will still be tied up in court -- mark my words.
