These pedals are a great match for a Fender amp. You can use it for distortion, or just a simple overdrive.

I used mine all over my instrumental CD. TO get a good idea of what it sounds like through a fender amp check out several of the clips on the following links.

Hope you enjoy, let me know if you have any questions.

I have a DS-1 that I used a lot when I used to play through a Fender Sidekick 35 Reverb. It doesn't sound right through my Blues Jr. so I rarely use it in leau of my Tube Screamer.

The sound is pretty good though if you're looking for a pure clean distortion pedal and you have the right amp. It seems that solid state amps sound better with this pedal. I have played this and the feedbacker version of this pedal through several Fender Sidekick amp sizes, 15, 25 & 35 and they all sounded good. I have also heard the pedal through an older Mesa Boogie, (mid 80's), which also sounded pretty good.

I have the Boss OS-2, which is a pedal that has both overdrive and distortion. It also mixes the two effects to any degree that you want. A simple knob and goes from over drive to distortion, and make one stronger than the other in mixing the two.

I agree w/ Syeclops,
this would be a great pedal for you since it can do 2 different overdrive sounds at once. the boss overdrive stuff really works well w/ a clean fender tone

The first pedal I ever bought was a Boss DS-1. I sold it about a month ago because when I wanted to shrink my pedal board and because I didn't really use it (because it was not to my taste through my Fender Blues Junior) I got rid of it. For me My Analog Man modded Ibanez TS9 fits "my" tone better.

On a side note. As far as Boss pedals go, I also had a Boss BD-2 and preferred that over a Boss DS-1.

Try a Boss MT-2. Don't let the name (Metal Zone) fool you. This pedal can be dialed in for a number of good sounding gains and overdrives for a variety of sounds.

FWIW I tried the DS-1, OS-2, SD-1, ML-2, DS-2, OD-3, MD-2, and ODB-3 on bass, and I did not like any of them. I have tried the MT-2 on bass and I liked it. JMO
