Interesting that the rosewood is an added expense. If I recall correctly, there was a time (‘60 - ‘68) when mighty fine rosewood was pretty much all that was marketed or trendy in Fender necks, and to get a maple fretboard a special order added expense. The maple was a glued on slab. I think the price difference was similar; but, maybe someone else can verify that.

But most of the Jaguars looked a bit too technical in terms of circuitry and switches?

This new Am Pro variant gives me a selector switch that looks usual in the usual place with - yeh, those look like master tone and master volume controls (mm-mm-mmm sweet!) and an ooo-aaa switch up there that does something tonally and aurally effective.

Dear Fender: can you market the switch on Am Pro Jaguar as an Ooo-aaa switch? I am sure that worldwide potential purchasers everywhere will understand exactly what it does and throw away a technical definition as well? The Jag seems pleasantly positioned to introduce artistic terms over functional or engineering terms.

Complex wiring schemes such as James Tyler's "lead/rhythm" circuit cater for guitarists seeking for versatility from their instruments.

Maple fingerboards were separate laminated caps.

The 1-piece maple neck didn't return until 1969.

Love the responses this post is getting - it answers what online forums are about?

In the Big picture it seems reasonable for the challenge to Strat dominance should be an inhouse Fender challenge

Equally it is reasonable that the Fender Strat should reply in time with initiatives of its own - Yeh?
