Rain cooled things off today, whew. I think we made it through the hot stuff.

The weather is crazy. A nice sunny day with 68°F/20°C at the moment. The rest of the week will be sunny with 80s and 90s with 95° expected for the weekend. Go figure. :?:

At 2pm, it's sunny and a balmy 112°/44° with 11% humidity.

Ah, that feels better.

It was a humid and hot day today in Southern Illinois (96 Degrees and 52% Humidity). ...but I try not to complain too much, while deployed to Iraq months went by with daily highs of 135...in the shade...and as long as I stay outta East St. Louis, no one is shooting at me either!

Well said, and thanks T2 for your service bro’ in that hot spot of the world. And you are so right about the violence on this side of the pond, It’s like a virus. I think there are a few candidates that need to be directed to overseas where they can put those shootings to use in a positive way for the good need be. Better that they don’t get the opportunity at all, but reality isn’t always favourable. Cool heads are better when things get heated.

It rained today. I think the cycle is broken finally. Got to 93 and then thunder and lightning brought a cool shower. Looks like 80's for the coming week.
T2Stratman, 135 in the shade, a huge thank you for your service.
East St. Louis was always rough but in '85 when I was tdy at Scott to the ASF for 2 weeks we hung out at the Club Celebration in East St. Louis wild beautiful women. we don't need no roof let that MF burn nightly. Sorry to hear it's Dodge city now. I know, up here in Chicago it's Boot Hill or Tombstone take your pick.

Hey there, Rollie. As luck would have it, I haven’t spent much time with tv lately, and I woke up today to catch the current Chicago tragedy. Sad.

We also have our share of increased gang shootings; but, it’s not at your Windy City’s level. Stay safe my friend, and avoid the hotspots if you can.

I hope things can turn around. You guys need and deserve better.
Best

Thanks FSB, I appreciate it. I don't walk around as much any more and I am in a safer area and look both ways before crossing lol. If I venture further in I'm usually accompanied by a taxi driver.

That looks like our prairie weather, Mike. You must live closer than I thought.
The next 5 days:
85°, 88°, 95°, 95°, 91° F

Makes for great evenings sitting on the patio though. :D

FSB and SBLS, it was my honor to serve. Yes sadly, East St. Louis and also North St. Louis have gang related crimes rates that are through the roof and murders are an every weekend occurrence just as Chicago. Amazingly much like Chicago St. Louis seems to ignore the gang problem and every year ends up just behind Detroit for violent crime. Yet the elected officials bemoan the problem but do nothing but coddle the very criminals creating the downward trends these cities experience. Makes me shake my head in disbelief.

I can relate to your crime problems, because we are now taking America’s lead with guns on the street like never before. It was just announced that most of them are domestic weapons too.

Winnipeg has once again grabbed the dubious honour of being the most violent and most homicidal city in Canada. Gangs, a terrible history ongoing of missing indigenous women, stifled rumours of a serial killer, the list goes on in a city with over 80 ethnic groups and cross border gang interest. Understaffed ill directed cops fight a losing battle with the justice system based on emotion, votes. and corruption rather than logic in a place where antiquated penitentiaries, also run by gangs, are overflowing. Same old same old, huh?

Times have changed from my youth when doors were left unlocked and respect and manners existed. Even the gangsters had rules that didn’t involve the public. Changes evolved in a very short time from a smaller population. I feel for today’s youth. If the past is any indication, the future will be like Mad Max, and that ain’t cool :? We need these hotheads to chill and to quit their night job.

Cheers!

It hasn't technically been really hot here in Newport, RI (hasn't hit 90 degrees, or anything like that, but it's been oppressively humid. In fact, it's been more humid here, percentage-wise, than St. Petersburg or Miami, Florida (I looked, since I used to live down there, out of curiosity.) I'm hoping this will break pretty soon. The funny thing is this place gets brutally cold in the winter, and have had blizzards.
