It was so damn hot that fully-charged batteries for Makita hand tools would lose their charge in about forty minutes just laying unused on the antenna deck.

Ran into that too. For the most part, I didn't use power tools except for a soldering iron, but we had one special project where the traffic engineer requested special ADA pushbuttons to be mounted at ankle-height so a resident could run into the button with their front wheel.
Anyways, this was in Rancho Mirage, and of course, a summer job (nearly all work in the PS area is "off season" summer work.
Same thing. Two Makita batteries would be enough for one button (drill and tap two 1/4-20 and open up a 1" hole with a Unibit)... I needed to do eight. Talked the boss into buying 4 more batteries and I returned to do the work at 3am.

Only 89 today. Yesterday we hit 94, which is pretty brutal for the NE.

Bought two 20oz sodas yesterday at around 10am. Left one in my car, brought the other in to work. The one in the car of course ended up getting warm so I figured I'd throw it in the fridge when I got home.

As I pulled in my driveway at around 3pm (5 hours later) I notice the bottle is hissing. Temperature built up too much in the car and it probably would have exploded if I left it in there any longer.

Gahh!
Probably around '88, back of my wife's pinto was a mess.
Same summer, blew up a can of cola AND a can of hairspray!

Ouch! A nice 70°F/21°C at 11pm. This Saturday we expect 95°F/35°C which is not that common here. Around 70°F/21°C is pretty average in July although, close to 80°F/27°C is more like it since climate change.

That's hot man, wet or dry!!
We have been getting a break from the heat, lots of good soaking rain though. We made up a deficit of 7.5" in one 12 hour storm and this week has been mostly thunderstorms lightening and cooler highs.
It's a wet heat...

85°F/30°C. Expecting 90° on Saturday. I think I’ll trade the car in for a camel. That little desert west of us is getting closer. :P

Maybe I’ll start a cactus farm. The way things are going crazy up here in the land of the north there might be a good market for peyote.

Hornets were building two nests under our bedroom awning. It’s 92°F/33°F so today I hosed them down, and gave them a wasp trap filled with a nice cool beer.

Boy! Were they hot?!
:D
