Yeah, they bought them in 2002.

The transitional Charvels have some great feeling necks! (Not the pointy headstock ones)

Then a Charvelet Jackson, Charvelet Gretcsh, etc... until they come out with the plug-in hybrid Charvelet EVH.

They also own Gretsch, EVH, Jackson, Kaman (includes Hamer), SWR... and Sunn until they folded the brand.

Likely why we'll never see Fender buy Gibson.
While Gibson's acoustic line would be a strong benefit, Gibson's solid body and hollowbody lines are direct competition with Fender's main and Gretsch lines. The Charvel/Jackson/EVH lines were always more niche, appealing to the more hardcore and did not detract from Strat/Tele sales.

Ah but Gibson also owns:
Epiphone
Kramer
Maestro
Steinberger
Tobias
Dobro
Slingerland
Valley Arts
Baldwin (including: Chickering, Hamilton and Wurlitzer).

Dobro and Baldwin would be good names to pull in, given that one doesn't really think of "Fender" in those markets... Dobro is pretty much the "Xerox" or "Kleenex" of resonators.
But of the rest of the products, again, direct competition with other Fender lines, or products that FMIC has previously sold off from under their current holdings (they sold Gretsch drums)

The FTC might also have something to say about 75% of musical instrument production being under FMIC.

Slingerland drums were my close second choice in ‘66. At that time they were still viable, but they have an up and down history.

Slingerland was also known for mandolins, banjos, acoustics, and it’s 1939 solid body acoustic electric (1940 was the last year for Sling’s electrics) with the Songster being an earlier entry before Les Paul’s “log” guitar. Maybe those raspberries eventually made Gibby buy Slingerland. Naw! Just kidding.

Over the years Slingerland changed hands, and along comes Gretsch which sold Slingerland to Gibson who basically destroyed the brand’s sales by requiring dealers to carry the guitars as well as the drums. Kinda tells me that Slingerlands were wanted but not Gibson in those dealerships.

So with Fender having dropped Gretsch, I don’t think Slingerlands would be a good marriage with Fender. I dunno. Sometimes a second marriage works just fine.

Agreed.

Looks like it's seen some action, too.
