Oh dear, that's dreadful news. The poor guy had such a sad life.

The mainstream 'media' don't see it as worthy of mention.

Of course not.
For most of the kids writing and producing news stories, they had no exposure to FM before Bill Clinton's inauguration.
FM prior to 1975 is pretty much unknown to the pop culture.

I've heard about him. Sad story, indeed. RIP, Danny. :(

I agree with you, Rich. I don’t know if the current pop generation, fans, writers, and such are tuned in to rock history outside of their chosen genre or interest as much as those cats from the 50s, 60s, and 70s and, to some extent, others were. That would be a missed opportunity to understand how we got here from there or how we didn’t.

Either way, musicians and singer/songwriters like Danny, whether they play a large or small part in the history of music, all IMHO leave some influence by osmosis. Some more, some less, and some to be avoided or intentionally forgotten.

Bands struggle, bands evolve, bands thrive, bands die, and one may not care about that, but you can bet that individual band members and groups do. They beg, borrow, steal, and create their art. I think, but my opinion only, that if you like the tone you might want to check out the rest of the palette. Of course, if being in a trance is your thing, then it won’t matter how you got there, only that you did.
Now if you want to reproduce that thing that got you there you might want to rediscover the origins.

How can that be related to Fleetwood Mac? Well, today’s pop culture is either related as part of rock and roll (which included blues) or not rock and roll which is something altogether different. Hmm? Choose your poison.

Danny Kirwan’s brush with fame left it’s mark, unfortunately, he also left too soon like so many before him.

Yeah. The old FM rocked. Like other successful groups in their early days, it’s difficult to keep the same intensity with the music market changing, desires to move in a different direction with the group or the individuals, facing competition, maintaining a constant and equal flow of creativity, and more.

I do like some of Stevie’s following solo work though.

I remember back in 1970, I would go into the bar of my local and put Jigsaw Puzzle Blues on the juke box. The guitar work and sound blew my mind every time, Danny was one of the unsung greats and I agree with everyone about the old Fleetwood Mac. They were great times back in the day especially for us on the outside looking in.
RIP Danny, I hope you have found the love and happiness you deserve.
