Anyone having already a Flickr account linked to Oath should update the properties as the new owner will soon remove the Yahoo! credentials required for logging in.

It kind of reminds you of the early days of the internet where everybody thought they were going to become billionaires by investing in some "dot com" scheme which rarely or never panned out because they all had fantastically unrealistic expectations.
You’re right about that .com bit, Matt. I didn’t make a cent on it, but my manager’s son did. In the mid 90s he grabbed “law.com”, sat on it, threw it to the wolves, and cashed in big time.
Meanwhile, Facebook and online photo/video management has passed me by from my choice and not by desire. Yes, there are inconveniences attached and I miss out on a lot. Every time I look at making a move to one of these hosts the rules change or there are issues to be worked out or they have action pending. Were I not taking this accordingly, I would have oodles of fun and consequences like others have discovered. Facebook was in the news again in the past few weeks, and one would have to ask, “When isn’t Facebook getting bad press?” There are some pretty big players who have left that game behind them forever and the results are coming in at the market level. I simply haven’t gotten on board. Each to their own.

I was just about to join Flickr when the policy changed. I still may, but now I’ll have to take another look at the pluses and minuses and the alternatives.

I know we can ask or have reasonable expectations from Forums and other social media sites, but I would prefer an online management from my provider (like my cable company once had), and, besides, they already have enough data on me and money from my subscription and others. Just my 2 cents. YMMV.

I will probably fall into line with photos and video; but, I’ll use my father’s (political) advice. “Better to go with the devil you know rather than with the devil you don’t.”

Maybe I'm an alien but I'm using PB again and it's all right.

Well, it's 05 June and I uploaded a new pic to Flikr and posted it (elsewhere) and there was not a word about paying.

Also I scanned through the terms and conditions and while I did see several mentions of paid subscriptions, nothing jumped out at me to suggest I might be forced into paying something.
I admit I did not read the entire document.
I guess time will tell.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

It's too bad Fender is a small "mom & pop" type business that can't afford some server storage for pics.

Blues, too bad you closed the PB acount, as the pics have all turned back up in my old posts. You had some great lengthy posts that were pic rich too!

It appears as long as the account wasn't closed the pics are back. I checked several of my old posts and all the pics are back. I didn't close my PB account, just stopped using it and now it is working again at least for the pics that are already uploaded, I haven't tried to upload any new ones yet...maybe if I run across another project amp I'll give it a shot!

FWIW
