Anyone else notice that pics are re-appearing in older posts? Did photobucket finally come to their senses and decide to stop requiring $$ to allow third party photos use?

Using a pic of my Strats to test this out. It does appear it is working.

Interesting.
Too bad I moved everything to Imgur and closed my PB account.
They lost $100/year from me. I'm betting they really took it in the shorts from people who used to pay $100 and refused to pay $300 when their sole use of the service was for forum post linkage.

I think they want $3.95 a month now. I won't be going back.

I'm glad I left them for Imgur years ago now! 8)

I just stopped using the account, but did not close it. I have not paid anything, but haven't uploaded any new photos either. I did notice they had a bunch of popup ads on there, maybe they are gaining $$ from all the advertisers now.

FWIW

I just checked and they have not changed their plan options.
$100/year for 100gb storage, less for 50gb, but neither allow 3rd party hosting.

I'm running a script on Firefox that shows PB links anyways, so I can't really test it from here.

When I check this old topic all the photobucket images seem to appear again. Great stuff.

Well, I myself can see the posted pic. Great.

Anyway I always doubted PB would get any money charging what they wanted to charge for third party hosting.

It kind of reminds you of the early days of the internet where everybody thought they were going to become billionaires by investing in some "dot com" scheme which rarely or never panned out because they all had fantastically unrealistic expectations.

I closed my account after taking all my pics from PB.

I either use Flickr or ImgBB - Here's one from the latter :

Flickr has been purchased a third party and is no longer a free storage service. As of the 27th May, anyone with an active account on Flickr will have to pay to upload any further photos. If you don't want to pay, close your account. I did!

Well, if it comes to that I will just stop posting pictures. There is a limit to my tollerence for pickpockets and I’m not moving again. It will be inconvenient, no doubt. More so for people desiring help with their problems. I’m pretty obstinate when it comes to MoFos shaking me down. I’m one of those who would die before capitulating and do it gladly.

Flickr has been purchased by SmugMug.

Here's a screencap from Smugmug's FAQ page:

Unless you get an email stating otherwise nothing is changing.

I wouldn't go deleting your account yet, if you have one.

If you want to see the whole faq, it's here:
