I don't log into Google, ever.
I see no need.
The search engine works noticeably better without it (IMO) and I don't particularly feel the need to volunteer even more personal data than they already capture from me.

Truth be told I use Google only sparingly.
They have better image and video searches but for everyday information I use Duck Duck Go.

I've been using Flikr for image hosting ever since Photobucket pooped the bed but I'm not banking on making it a permanent home.
There's been unofficial chatter they may soon make the same change as Photobucket.

SmugMug just bough Flickr. our photos will go to SM

You are on the web, forget about your personnel / private data , Google or not
That’s a fact, Jack. Read the Eula’s, hit a link on one of those private websites, have a pattern of searching with cookies, watch out for spiders, by all means read how privacy is enacted . . . but, good luck on reading what isn’t enacted or shared, and forget the assumption that what is written is always truthful in the scheme of things.

Your privacy might be more secure with the average Dick or Jane (at times), unless you’re put on a Cc: mailing list without permission as so many that infuriate me do by not asking if it’s okay to share my email address or by being knowledgeable and not being courteous by using Bcc as expected. (This week my primary emailing address was added to an international wedding list of 30 people I don’t know). A nice way of saying here I am strangers! This info. can be harvested. I’m already getting junk mail as a result of the list. Cc is good for inter-office, business, and those that are likely to already have each other’s permitted email address. Consider using Bcc for the remainder folks. It’s a great underused feature. I bring this email rant up because, in the wrong hands, it can be a directory to one’s other data habits such as surfing the Net.

I won’t and don’t need to elaborate further except to say one needn’t use a keyboard for invasion of privacy, it’s as close as your appliances, tv, and whatnot or will be if it isn’t already, and forget about using the healthcare system when it comes to privacy.

I don’t use Facebook, Google+, Twitter or a host of similar services. My provider for the TV and Net changed hands and who knows what data was shared? The monopolies are buying what they don’t have. After many years of side stepping these services with my trained knowledge of privacy options, only in the last few years I’ve come to the conclusion you don’t need to use them . . . but, they’ll definitely use you.

The best you can do is slow them down until they get up to speed, and they are going faster every day.

I could say, “I have nothing to hide”, but it would be more correct to say, “I have nothing that is hidden”.
FSB

You can run, but you can’t hide. Who knows? Maybe, they’re swiping your donut cup for DNA patterns of your purchasing. Hahaha.

Be that as it may, I'm still not going to volunteer to give anything up.
I don't log into Google.
Other things as well but that one applies to this thread about remote pic linking.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

You don't need to be logged into google services to have your information tracked. If you EVER logged in to gmail on that computer, your outside IP address (the one given by your ISP) was associated with your Google apps account. Although I understand wearing an aluminum foil hat while logged in may be able to block their IP logging.

lol

In the real world though, privacy just isn't anymore. Smart TVs, laptops with mics and webcams,
phones, tablets, ISPs, free wifi hotspots.....etc
