Charleville, Queensland, Australia.

Located slightly west of the middle of nowhere in SW Queensland outback. 900kms from the sea, 300kms from the nearest proper town (and McDonalds, thankfully!), 500kms from nearest traffic lights, but sadly 850kms from the nearest Fender dealership to the east in Brisbane.

3,000 people, home of the Flying Doctors, and contrary to the current drought status, frequently holding our breath beneath floodwaters.

FrankieP They are great photos. Real interest to hear about your part of the world could not imagine no traffic lights and MacD's being so far off around here I can jump on Rt.29 a few miles from home and at the wrong time of day during the week drive 5 miles never getting above 5 to 10 miles and hour there is so much traffic. Then some areas in Maryland were you can get moving if you go over the limit they take your pic. from a parked car with hidden camera and mail you a ticket, And red lights go through one get the flash watch the mail for one there to. And for MacD's I have five of them whithin five mile of me. We don't have flying Docs but we have many Hospitals one which is one of the best there is Johns Hopkins University also have Maryland State Shock Trama Center and Airlift which I believe may have been one of the first in the U.S. Being in the Baltimore Washington area is the complete reverse to what your home area is.

Truly spectacular country. There are parts of the east end of Long Island that appear that way from the air, and in the lower photo, some golf courses after a long hot spell followed by torrential downpours.

This sharing is truly wonderful.

I have a close friend living an hour out of Oslo and her descriptions of her surroundings match your photos.

She's a NYC girl who I knew well in high school and she, even after many years, still cannot deal well with your winters. Your summers sound wonderful, in particular, the very, very later sun.

Doc

I don't have any pics of Jakarta, the city I grew up in until I was 14, but I found this on the web:
Image

When I left permanently in '88 it was a city of - official figure - 10 million people, now officially is 11 million (although some say it's over 13 mil)

I moved in the summer of '88, not to GB. I've been in GB since '99. I moved to Manhattan. I was involved with bad stuff in Jakarta, my parents ship me to my grandmother to be away from the bad stuff. I used to come visit her in the States every summer. This summer ('88) was the last visit, since they wouldn't get me back to Jakarta. I hated it, but it turned out to be the best thing they've ever done for me. I would've been dead or in prison like some of my friends in Jakarta now. Plus I got to pick up the bass and started playing with that, went to shows in clubs in NYC - and some arena shows since Madison SG was a few blocks away :D My mom still feels guilty of doing that, but she (and my dad RIP) did save me from the bad stuff. I was a spoiled brat, in Jakarta I had everything handed to me. Coming here made me learn to earn - as dad you to say. Now, I don't even consider Jakarta home so much, but Green Bay, this is where my family is. Sorry for the long rant.

From relatives still living in Jakarta, doesn't matter what time now it's always traffic in Jakarta. My great grandfather retired in Bogor. I miss having some ba'cang from Bogor

How many people live there? I grew up in a town of a little over 200. Not anywhere near as remote as yours, but still not many people

I am back in Fort Worth, Texas where I was born now. I lived in Orange County California (mostly San Clemente) for a long time and another 10 years in Frederick, MD.

I think it's great that the Fender Forums include players from all around the world. :)

I've done Route 1 from Seattle to San Diego, in two jumps, several years apart. Seattle>SF and then SF>SD. I remember stuff the likes of your pic.
My wife said that the Oregon coast has to be one of the most beautiful regions she's seen, and would have lived there had Florida and her friends not been a stronger calling.

I had my eyes set on Maui, where we vacationed twice, and a long time friend has retired to. Oregon would have been convenient in that one son lives in Seattle, and her father lives in Calabasas in the winter months.

Florida got the award in that the other son practices medicine in New Jersey, and a clotch of friends and neighbors in our NY community live alongside or near us, and my closest friend of over 50 years and former bandmate is 15 min south.

Doc

I've driven Rt. 101 from Neah Bay, WA to San Diego. It's probably the most beautiful drive in the country. The Oregon coast rocks and then come the Redwoods.
