Ha, Chet you crazy dude you! Small world man, small world.

After I got out of the Military in '75 I did quite a bit of traveling and moving from place to place.

I used to live in that area as a kid, near Ft. Meade, Severn, and Glen Burnie.

I'm down in Gainesville Florida now. Home of the Fightin' Gators and the USA's "#1 Party School," UF.

In the 70's "Oldies" (50's and 60's) music was real popular in a bunch of little venues all around the Beltway. We used to go from place to place and catch some pretty good groups.
Does that still go on?

Maryland seems popular many people here or have lived here. I think it great tto see how far apart we all are but yet we have this great interest. Just hearing people saying Hello to all from ________ is pretty cool. And how some give a touch of local trivia. We have had a few chime in from other parts of the World which is great.

There were a lot of nice places around then we still have Merriweather Post up off of route 29 in Columbia it about a 6 or 7 mile drive for me from here. They had a few fights the last couple of years to keep it open the owners are eyeing the value of the land with all the million dollar+ house being built in Howard County

I bags "Most Remote" title:

Charleville, Queensland, Australia.

Located slightly west of the middle of nowhere in SW Queensland outback. 900kms from the sea, 300kms from the nearest proper town (and McDonalds, thankfully!), 500kms from nearest traffic lights, but sadly 850kms from the nearest Fender dealership to the east in Brisbane.

3,000 people, home of the Flying Doctors, and contrary to the current drought status, frequently holding our breath beneath floodwaters.

Well, that's pretty much it...!

Red rusty dirt, gum trees, blue skies and black angry storms in season. Desert weather - highs of 45 degrees Celcius plus in summer, lows down to -6 Celcius overnight in winter. The roads in town are sealed as are the highways into and out of town, but the smaller routes out of town heading north-west are unsealed corrugated red dirt that's churned up by the roadtrains after each rainfall. Everytime we get a callout up those roads I have to clean out the whole truck inside afterwards, as every surface is covered in a layer of fine red dust!

No crocs down here though at least, which is just as well, because those trails around the river are where I go running with the dogs. Crocs LOVE dogs, and not in a friendly way... :x

Steve: I plan to be at my home in Boca Raton for at least 10 days in late December. Perhaps we can shoot the breeze over coffee.....that is.....if my wife hasn't turned the place into a hotel again....guesting the entire family.

I've also extended the same offer to Mike, all things being equal.

We'll play it by ear. For now, it remains Long Island.

[quote="-Ryco"][quote="CAFeathers"][quote="PowerJazzBass"][quote="Nitro1320"]Grants Pass, Oregon... 30 miles NW of Medford, 3-4 hours South of Portland.

I've done Route 1 from Seattle to San Diego, in two jumps, several years apart. Seattle>SF and then SF>SD. I remember stuff the likes of your pic.
My wife said that the Oregon coast has to be one of the most beautiful regions she's seen, and would have lived there had Florida and her friends not been a stronger calling.

I had my eyes set on Maui, where we vacationed twice, and a long time friend has retired to. Oregon would have been convenient in that one son lives in Seattle, and her father lives in Calabasas in the winter months.

Florida got the award in that the other son practices medicine in New Jersey, and a clotch of friends and neighbors in our NY community live alongside or near us, and my closest friend of over 50 years and former bandmate is 15 min south.
