Snagged this 1968 Mosrite Celebrity MKIII last Thursday for only $572! (I treated myself after spending nearly $1000 on car parts)

It's very played, but in very good shape for its age and how much it's been played. I had seen this guitar in the shop a few months prior, but I passed a couple times because I snagged by others. It got to the point where I was thinking about it non stop, it was keeping me up at night before I bought it.

It sounds astounding. The pickups are totally unique to Mosrite. Sounds like nothing I've ever heard before. It's like the nice clean clarity and drive fuzz of a gold foil, the bite of a P-90, and the quack of a Stratocaster single, all while never getting mudded out.

The neck is pencil thin, and plays well all over. The frets have been worn damn near into the fretboard and every note is clear as day. With high gain, the guitar becomes a totally different animal. The feedback is so controlled, it never goes beyond a certain volume, so it's great for adding that little bit of feedback for an effect.

Overall, 8/10. Pickguard, knobs, and switch tip are missing and it'll need a refret in a year or so. But it os simply a doll in every way.

Cheers.

Cool.
I remember back in the 90s these old gems enjoyed a resurgence.

Pretty cool find. 8) I've noticed that you've had a knack for doing that. You must have pretty cool shops around where you live, since that's rare as rocking horse to have things like that pop up around here. Although, I did spot an ancient Teisco Del Rey hollow body for $200 in some local consignment/junk shop that was near my home. I wish I could have picked that up, but I couldn't at the time. You know, it's like those deals when technically you have the cash, but you also have to pay bills.

I paid some bills up, bought some car parts, then I blew it up with music gear. Full set of new heads for my kit, a new ride cymbal, 3 new guitars. I got a nice no name Teisco that's been refretted for $70, that sweet Greco 974 12 String for $100 and $150 in repairs, and this Mosrite.

But if you're in the DMV area, hit up Atomic Music. absolutely the best music store I've ever been to.

Sounds good. I'll have to check that place out, if possible. 8)

We sure don’t get that lucky across this country with the choices, quantity, and prices available to our friends and neighbours to the south. Besides, if and when they become available they get snapped up or go for more than they should. The waiting list is long.

A Mosrite? ! Very slick, James. Congrats! Now you're going to have to change your name to Nokie.
