Fleetwood Mac and Lindsey Buckingham have parted ways. I'm excited to hear them with Mike Campbell (Heartbreakers) on guitar. And I guess they brought in Neil Finn to pick up the slack on vocals. I like Lindsey's playing, but not a big fan of his vocals.

I always thought Nate Ruess from Fun would be a perfect replacement vocalist:

Lindsey Buckingham has a unique guitar style but if anyone can fill that void it's the very versatile Mike Campbell. And he has history with Stevie.

The only original, founding members of the band are John McVie and Mick Fleetwood, so I don't think this is something radical, as far as that band goes. I'm actually curious to see what they come up with, since both Mike Campbell and Neil Finn are very talented musicians. I think they also want to dig into their back catalog, maybe even material back before Lindsey was even in the band, so that might be cool, too. I suspect all of this is probably something to do with Lindsey and Stevie's relationship history, or at least from what I've read about the whole thing. I don't know, since I don't know these people personally, and anyone can write about anything, and it doesn't mean that it's necessarily true.

I'm not surprised at all. I'm actually more surprised it didn't happen (for a second time) sooner. I believe what put the wind back in their sales was an episode of "Storytellers" on VH1. That was back in 2000.

Yeah it would be cool to see them bring back some of the older stuff. I can't even listen to most of "Rumours" anymore because FM radio drilled those songs into the ground.

Hmm... wonder if they asked Green and Spencer or if there is some friction there?
Original lineup would be interesting with Stevie added.

John McVie was the bass player on John Mayall's Bluesbreakers album w/Clapton.

Oh wow cool little known fact Mike.

I've had this song stuck in my head for 3 days now. Those backup vocals sound familiar eh?

I’m sitting here reading this thread when a news story pops up on the idiot box. It reports that Stevie said Lindsey’s departure has to do with scheduling.

I found this:

That seems reasonable to me. A few months is one thing but a year and a half is a long time for everyone to wait for one person.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Band members through the years and Mick Fleetwood (drums) is the only
one who has been there since the start to the present day :

John McVie, too. Although, technically their was another dude on bass beforehand, but very briefly before their first album, except for one song, and some live album in 1967, that came out.

The hits that made Fleetwood Mac huge in the 70's were mostly because of the addition of Lindsay and Stevie, and his style is so unique.

Mike Campbell has always been under rated and he'll add some great touches to their sound.

Either way, I'm too cheap to pay the prices for their shows so I'll be a Youtube concert goer.

The Bob Welch Fleetwood Mac is still my favorite line-up.

As long as Christine McVie stays on keyboards, then it's okay I guess. When she "retired" and they tried to go out on tour without her, it didn't work to well, and her sound and voice were greatly missed.

Lindsey is an incredible guitarist and brought Fleetwood Mac to fame and fortune in the 70's far greater than they ever had. But I agree, that FM radio played their music to death and people actually started getting sick of it.
