Thank you all so much for sharing.

Personal fave Fender ad pictured a couple of young ladies in bikinis on the beach.

It was enough to make one turn their life's goals to marrying the brunette beach bunny and playing a Jazzmaster.

'Worked for this picker, both ways. Thanks, Fender!

One of the best threads yet!! I particularly liked the big bass amp on a wheeled cart and the in and out designed speaker cabinet. The 400 PS, the naked truth. Ahead of its time. Bose must have stolen that design and improved it Ha! 8)

I'm bumping this back up with the knowledge that the Fender website now has a sweet Art House section for ordering prints!

Go look...

Here is another "You won't part with yours" ad.

I've been looking for the classic ad where a surfer is surfing with a Jaguar. Used to be all over the Net. Now I can't find it.

Great stuff.

I love those old Jazzmaster/Jaguar necks with binding and block inlays.

Strange. I can't seem to find it anymore either. Seems I located it before and I thought I had posted it in here... but looking back through the thread, I guess not.

Apparently the Fender Austrailia website has these ads available as t-shirts...

Hey Steve: This ad is part of the reason why The Beach Boys were such a great success. They sold 'paradise' in a blond, on a board, in a 'bomb'.
Life was a beach, every day was summer, there wasn't a better place in the world to live. What imagery!!

My parents (and I) bought into it, too. Seems everybody wanted to move to southern Cal in the early and mid-'60s. That's all they talked about back then in our chilly place in CT. We never did get there. At least I got to SoFla.

The story as I remember it -- This was a real surfer with a real Fender Jag. They did ithe shoot in one take and the photographer claims he got the guitar back without a drop of water on it. I think people were given to exaggerate a bit back in the day if it made for a good story. Or maybe it's just the cynic in me.

Someone here on the forum let me know that Fender Japan still makes the Jags (JG66B) and Jazzers (JM66B) with the block inlays and binding, but they're hard to find here.

Here's the link to the pics.

http://www.fenderjapan.co.jp/fender/2008fender/jaguar_jazzmaster.htm

Models ending in "B" have the block inlays. It's difficult to navigate around the site without a working knowledge of Japanese . . . or you can randomly click on the links and hope for the best like I did.

From the menu it looked like you could have one from Column A and one from Column B :P

Whew, had to dig to find this thread again. :D

I found some odd Fender ads from Romania. Pretty interesting:
