Well, while doing my college search this summer, I figured it would be interesting to know where everyone here went (if any), what they majored in, and just any memorable things from the whole experience.

I went to Penn State University Park today and I loved the atmosphere. Since I'm not actually in college or out of it, I can't give you any stories from that perspective. I can give you a short little thing I found funny from a basketball team camp in which we stayed at PSU. One of teammates microwaved a piece of pizza for 10 minutes. Needless to say, it looked as if someone was smoking in there for hours.

So share anything, whether it be of the highly academic stay you all had  or of the late-night parties and shenanigans.

I never did the college thing. Considering my partying ways back then, I wouldn't have lasted long anyway.

West Virginia University here! Started out as a business major, that lasted about one semester, then went into psychology - I finished with my bachelors

Lots of stories and memories, none that I will go into right now - lol!

I did see in the paper that WVU dropped from #1 party school in the nation to #4 - oh well, see what happens when I leave?

I am at a junior college for another semester, then I will have my associates degree. I will be at Illinois State University after that.

Humm - I've never attended any college, but I did work for New York University for 28 1/2 years  I even got to be a guest lecturer for a few classes over the years - my practical knowledge came in very handy. (I entered the computer field back in 1966 - worked for a computer manufacturer for 7 1/2 years)

I've had friends who went to NYU, MIT, Columbia, Yale, Princeton, Harvard and a many State Colleges in the east - most were Computer / Math / Science geeks - all of the above schools were good for that. Unfortunately they are all very expensive - but my friends all seem to be well turned out folks. NYU is a large school - easy to get lost - but if you are good - easy to stand out.

My eldest granddaughter is going to be a sophomore at Johnson and Wales in Rhode Island - she's studying to be a Chef / Restaurant Manager - that's what she wants to be. She's enjoying herself.

My youngest granddaughter is looking at several schools - we visited Johnson State College up in Johnson VT with her - she really enjoyed that - she's big on dancing and the arts - Johnson has lots of that.

When you visit a school make sure you get to talk to students - they can give you a real feel for the place - which might be different from the fancy color brochures and getting talks and walks with the faculty and staff.

Hope this helps a little bit,

Gil 8)

UConn !!! Excellent academic standards, some good partying, and two of the best basketball programs in the country (so you have something to do on those incredibly cold winter nights when you're outta beer).

I first did 2 years at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, majoring in Architecture, but eventually graduated from The School of Visual Arts in NY with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography and a minor in TV Production.

My son will be starting UMass at Lowell in a month in their Sound Recording Technology program...he is thrilled as are we...

I went to the USMC Scout/Sniper school. Not much partying going on there. Used to visit friends at various colleges before I enlisted.

One hint: Never visit the Auburn Air Force ROTC Halloween party. The guys are dressed as girls, the girls are dressed as girls, and if you're drunk enough, it's hard to tell the difference.

I spent two years at UTEP (University of Texas El Paso) then graduated fron North Texas State University (before it became The University of North Texas) I have two degrees one a B.A. in Literary English and a B.A. in Secondary Education. I use neither of them though. My dorm room mate's father was the master brewer at the Miller Brewery in Fort Worth can you say free beer.

Spent 3 years at a 2-year school (Clark Community College in Vancouver, WA) before running out of money. Majored in alcohol, mind-altering drugs and pinochle (hey, it was the Early '70s). Yes, I regret not being serious about my studies, but there's nothing I can change about it now.

Right now I'm at the University of Retirement. My major is FUN (Having as much as possible).

After I graduate, I plan on entering a post graduate program.
