Count me in with your group. I use Dunlop .46mm. Has'nt broke yet and I get teased about making them out of those Pringle Potato Chip covers :-)

I once played in a band with a guy who cut out picks from empty Clorox bottles.

I tried various thicknesses and settled on 2mm Dunlop Gator Grip picks. I found I prefer a rigid pick that doesn't make a lot of string noise.

I primarily use a Fender Heavy or a Fender Extra Heavy for most stuff with 10 gauge strings (usually Dean Markley Blue Steels), but lately I've been using a Dunlop Jazz 3 pick for what my musician buddies call my "stupid" stuff (as in endless sweep picking all tied together with major string skipping intertwined throughout). That pick is weird and takes some getting used to, but it also has very little string resistance for a small pick that's so thick.

.60mm is what I like, or somewhere near.

I'm with you on that one... .60's are thick enough to have some attack on the strings, but thin enough where I don't feel like I'm bludgeoning my strings (11's).

At one point I prefered thin gauge, then made the transition to mediums which I have stuck with ever since.

I use all kinds, but have been sticking to the black Dunlop Jazz III XL lately, do the red ones feel slippery to anyone else?

Dunlop nylon .46mm on 10ga. strings with the gain and vol. fairly high so you can get a very mellow sustaining tone without distortion. I even bought some .38mm, but that was just too thin for me.

The guys in the band say I use 'paper' picks :(

well i use a fender medium or a any celluloid pick that is around .76mm. i play very fast and i also play alot of heavy stuff, but when i play a strat, with those steel strings, the .38mm gauges and the .60mm dunlops dont hold up, so ji use hard plastic fender mediums for medium steel strings, or for other medium strings, who in the world makes a 3.0mm gauge anyway, ha ha ha ha.............. 8)
