So one can see the potential of that PRS SE with an upscale finish, not paint, and the tweaks that Mayer wanted, including the reversed headstock, [ not natural finished] but it still would have looked Paul and not Leo. To my eye there's a very subtle difference in the shape of the body curves which makes them different. Check out the Artist Series guitars in the PRS SE grouping. Compare those to Mayer's 'idea'. Of course, YMMV.

I have to ask you chromeface if the Demeter midboost in Tyler guitars is the same as the Demeter pedal midboost.I have the pedal and like it a lot .Cool looking guitar btw.

It's a variation of the Demeter Fat Control pedal specially designed to retrofit on a guitar.

Fat Control offers approx. +10dB of gain which is a good compromise between the +6dB on EMG SPC and the +25dB on a Fender MDX.

In '97 I dropped an EMG DG20 into my new LTD natural finish American Standard. I remember having a conversation with an EMG tech who was arguing his SPC against what he considered to be an overbearing +25dB MDX. Eventually, we know that Fender dialed it back to 12dB for the Sambora and Powerhouse guitars.

Lower gains can be achieved via a pair of resistors on the MDX pot.

My guess is the old Elites had also the two gain-reducing resistors in their circuit.

As Eric insisted for more "compression" he prompted the R&D team to modify the PCB by removing them completely.

For those of you who may not know, these are Chromeface's favorite 'get Clapton's tone' boxes.

The SLOstortion has been discontinued.

There are many other stompboxes emulating the SLO-100.

Oh, and the SLO-100s were sold for a charity auction @ Bonhams 7 years ago!

Not to mention the Roland guitar synth setup he used in 1984-85.

Image

I never saw he also owned a sunburst G-505 (#K291949) besides the candy apple red #K824044.

Image

This Roland synth controller was part of his collection of 29 guitars sold to Gruhn Guitars a couple of years ago.

Time to bring the folks at Music Radar on board with the truth.

The first JM signature was a modified SRV model John had put a set of Big Dippers on it, with the lefty whammy replaced and the string tree moved a step forward. Later Fender released an exact copy of BLACK1 with gold hardware followed by a limited edition run in Cypress Mica and Vibro-King amp knobs - not to forgot a custom one-off finished in 23K gold leaves and the Crossroads Strat with Big Dippers he played with Eric Clapton in 2007.

I believe the PRS Silver Sky is kinda sorta of "NF3-meets-Cypress Mica".
