Wow Steve!! I'm surprised you have room to move around in! I had four other Fender guitars, plus 2 PRS's which came and went. The Les Paul was a gift from my wife which stayed. I have 5 amps none of which are Fender. I chose an Orange 50 for my Bass VI because the Fenders were too bulky for the closet the herd is sequestered in since relocating to SoFla. I don't have the room I once had on Long Island. BTW: We're long overdue for coffee.

Stay safe.

Hi Doc,

I hope all is well with you.

Yes, I don't have a dedicated place like a real home studio to keep everything together so it's spread all over the tiny condo. I wanted to live near the beach so my real estate money was spent on location rather than on space. I have second-guessed myself more than once in the 17 years since moving in here. Just yesterday I was looking at small houses online. It would be great to have a room for storing my gear, recording, writing songs, etc.

This morning, I had breakfast on the beach as the sun was rising over the Atlantic and all the reasons for locating here came rushing back to me. I'm really very fortunate to live here. Below is the view from my table at Ocean Alley on Hollywood Beach . . .

I have travel plans for spring and summer, but yes, I'll find time to meet with you again soon.

Good to know the storm wasn't tough on you. I've always had issues with being that close to the coast. Fortunately for our side some of the trees and the pool enclosure were hammered. We were all spared a true disaster this time around. Image

Talk soon. Will message you here.

Doc

I have a fair representation of Fender gear : GUITARS- '65 Strat, '00 Lefty MIM Strat (strung for right hand), '04 50th Ann. Strat, '12 Jimmie Vaughn Strat, '06 Stratacoustic, '65 Jaguar, '65 Mustang with original case and strap.
AMPS- '69 Bassman head, '68 2-15 "driprail" Bassman cabinet (with Fender {Electrovoice} speakers- number code 649), '65 CBS (Columbia Broadcasting System) Leslie Model 16 with a 12" JBL K-120,a killer, unblowable speaker....believe me,it's a miracle that it survived the deadly volume levels I have pumped through that puppy.BTW the Leslie Model 16 isn't technically a Fender but except for the grill cloth and logo,it's identical to its Fender counterpart the Vibratone.

'65 Strat,65 Mustang,65 Jaguar,4 more Strats,3 vintage Vox guitars,5 Vox amps,'69 Bassman with a '68 2-15 Bassman cab,36 guitars total-15asst'd amps total,2 vintage '60s Hammond organs & a myriad of effects-with a few rare vintage ones.

I've got very little invested in Fender gear. What I do have includes:

2 strats (1 Squier and a MIM deluxe)
Hot Rod Deluxe 3 amp
2 Fender Rumble bass amps.

When it comes to electric stuff, completely.
1961 Princeton
1969 Bandmaster Reverb
2011 MIM telecaster
1966 Reverb unit that I recently acquired (paid to much, but I wanted it badly)
1969 Yamaha FG180
A pretty good Japanese classical (don't remember what year or make but it sounds great and I like the way that it plays)

I've never used pedals, though I guess the reverb unit might count as one now.

I had a 67 Telecaster that I experimented with unrelentlessly in the 70s, sold the neck and pickups, still have the body.

Never say never, but I don't think I'll ever own a Gibson or anything with a humbucker.

Not too much.
1) The big investment is my 2004 50th Anniversary MIA Strat
2) SCX2, currently my only amp
3) Fender Starcaster chorus pedal that I bought new in 2013 in a bargain bin at Sam Ash for $15.

. That's what's been the inspiration for all these 'one-off' and LTD production hybrids that Fender and other builders have been producing across the decades.

"Holy 'toys in the attic', Batman" That was quite a celebrity memorablia dump. Collectors holding out for the 'top dollar' moment. If that guitar is truly at Guitar Center as described I hope it survives. Gilmour's 'Black Strat' was loaned out to them for a long time and was returned in horrific condition.

I guess considering how many hands and road trips this one of a kind has seen, and the fact that it has been altered many times, it may have a charmed life, Doc.

There are basically 2 answers to this question. ( there are sub-answers, but I digress)

1.) None of your freakin' business.
2.) I needed the money at the time. (The neck needed a re-fret, and I got a decent amount of money.)

Choose whichever works best for you. I did.

A classic Pete Townsend response, that.
