I don't get the "we hate Justin" thing. His pitch when singing live is excellent and his band is amazing. No lip sync. Is it just because he used to be in a "boy band"?
Well, I for one am not a fan of boy bands or any other formulated come out of the factory LA dance school look and sound alikes oozing into and out of La La land Disney operatives. (although. like everything there are exceptions). You won’t see me standing in line for Jonas or Britney either.

That said, I’ll come to Justin’s defence. This cat is not a one trick pony. I think this is one of if not his greatest performance(s):

He certainly won’t grow to be one of those over the hill tweenie heart throbs. IMHO.

He’ll haveta run from the cougars, however.

Hope you enjoyed the video, Mike and that, perhaps, I put him under the right spotlight.

Can’t say for sure, but the halftime show might be worth a look.
Enjoy the game Lizards! :D

I guess I just don’t care what band someone ‘used to’ be in. Most of us would sell out for that kind of cash. Peter Frampton was a teen idol heartthrob.

Yeah, and it killed his career. The follow-up to "Frampton Comes Alive" was the "I'm In You" album and the Sgt Pepper movie with the all-disco BeeGees. Both flopped big. Career over ... thanks for coming. Oh, and, Pete, ummm ... you hair looks like it is starting to thin, man ...

Oh ... And let's not forget, the the driving REAL talent behind Humble Pie was Steve Marriott (left in pic), not Peter Frampton (right in pic).

I’m sure Frampton cried all over his Ferrari seats on the way back to his estate.

The fact is, so many years later a lot of people have forgotten he was ever a “teen idol” and what HAS endured are some great classic tunes.

He seems to be doing just fine these days:

At least Timberlake can sing - he played a folksinger in the Coen brothers "Inside Llewen Davis" and his singing was spot on. (As was everyone's, including the delectable Carey Mulligan and star Oscar Isaac; all the cast sang their own songs, live on set, just amazing.)

Just be glad you weren't watch the game on CTV.
Their announcer said all kinds of really, really stupid crap, not the least of which was,
"This is a really good game. It's almost as good as Justine Timberlake."
I don't know if I quoted him exactly but it was words to that affect.
There was lots of other stupid crap too but that was the kicker.

The way he said it, it was almost like, "Yah, so they had this little sporting event at the Justin Timberlake show."

I just hung my head.

I'm a CFL guy and not much into NFL so maybe my perception might be a little off but it looked to me like the Eagles did not win that game.
It looked to me more like Brady lost that game.

OK you guys were right, I was wrong. That was one of my least favorite half-time shows. My favorite part was the spring-loaded mic stand.

I grew up with the CFL, College ball, QBs like Starr, Unitas, Bradshaw, Montana and the lot. My birthplace holds the CFL Hall of Fame. It is also the birthplace of the only Canadian team to have played and beat an NFL team. Hamilton versus Buffalo. I ate Joe Kapp (QB for BC) peanut butter as a kid, and I now live in a huge football town that had and lost Bud Grant as coach for the Vikings. I had a Canadian and American all star family friend as a kid, and I grew up to cover the game with a ground camera. So I’ve seen a few games over the years. There have been some great ones and some sleepers.

I enjoyed yesterday’s Super Bowl close game yesterday (except for all the self promoting NBC talent crap that made me think it was just another awards program).

I thought the Eagles played their hearts out, Matt. Brady played as he always does, but his team didn’t protect him in the rush of Eagles flying past them.

There were a lot of individual Eagles’ efforts, a rookie’s field goal, a lesser player’s only game sack, then there were guys by the name of Clement and Jeffery who shone. Foles, who was once at risk of losing his job, not only pulled off a razzle dazzle play that Brady failed to complete, but he also became the only quarterback in Super Bowl history to have caught a touchdown. Regardless of questionable calls which remain with the refs/officials (unlike the bending of NHL rules) I think the Eagles deserve their place on the podium. IMHO. YMMV.

They are only team other than the NY Giants to have beat the Patriots in a Super Bowl in the 21st century, it was their time after climbing the ladder to get there. I think luck needn’t show it’s face.

Halftime was okay if that’s your thing; but, except for the suitable Prince homage which was predictable, the rest was what it was.

How’s that for being diplomatic? :P

There were some questionable calls.
I don't like questionable calls.
When I see the replay and I don't agree with the call it doesn't leave me feeling satisfied and if it affects the final outcome, which it usually does, I can't be happy with the game.

Whatever, at least I had no money riding on it.

BTW, ghost, that's a Benz.
Just sayin'.

I knew someone would jump on that. The pic is unrelated to the 'Ferrari' comment. A young rock star like PF probably drove a Ferrari or similar at the height of his fame in the 70's, I don't really know if he ever owned one. And it's extremely obvious that model Benz didn't even exist in the 70s.

Amongst the winners and losers in the controversial Super Bowl, this news has just been announced by the NFL. There is another winner and loser and a new sheriff in MoTown:

Congrats, Matt (Patricia)!

+1 on that. Big applause for the lighting crew.

The lighting today is phenomenal and it just keeps getting better. That’s a far cry from when stages used candles, and safer too. Of course, sometimes a little computer and video processing adds a little trickery.

Yeah, towards the end, the Eagles defense won that game. Not to take anything away from Foles who certainly did his part, but without that turnover and a few more key defensive plays, the Pats still had a good chance of winning right up to the end. I was rooting for the underdogs from the beginning. Very entertaining game.

Okay, full disclosure ... I am a HUGE Steve Marriott fan who feels he was hugely under-rated and never got his due, while Peter Frampton is EASILY one of the most over-rated guitarists ever whose songwriting, singing, performing, AND guitar playing all paled compared to Marriott. And it pains me greatly that the brilliant Steve Marriott is barely a footnote in the annals of rock-n-roll compared to the "great guitar playing of Peter Frampton". Just typing it makes me throw up in my mouth...

Steve Marriott was a total bad-a$$ rock-n-roller:

Okay, I will shut up now ... Sorry ...
