Just heard about the quake. Check in with "I'm alright" and any stories you may have.

I was looking at CNN and they were showing inspectors checking a bridge and as they were doing so cars were just zipping across My guess is that one is OK . Sounds like there is a lot of after shocks going on though.

Everything shook pretty good for about 15 - 20 seconds. Kind of had a swell, then a hard jolt, followed by some swaying (like you were riding the ripples from a rock thrown in a pond), then a final hard jolt (like a big fist had punched the ground). In essence, pretty standard fare for us out here. Still, you never quite get comfortable with these things. Once you're OK, you start to fret about your loved ones right away.

Damage has not been particularly consequential. I've not heard of any associated injuries so far. Only annoyance was the almost complete lockup of the phone system. The land lines were so jammed, I could not get a dial tone out for something like 30 minutes. I could not get my cell phone to call out for over an hour. Actually, this might be something to really fear. We're going to need phones if this had been our "big one".

BTW, Thanks for thinking about us out here!
