I think you mean "disk space" and pictures take up very little space. These days, it's really a non-issue.

The issue on this one is less around tech limitations and more around liability and level of service. On a corporate forum of this nature it introduces new scenarios around the uploaded content itself that we aren't really equipped to handle: like us hosting inappropriate or politically-charged content, or unauthorized content of concern to other firms, etc. Can it all be navigated, tightened down, and policed? Of course. But the reward has to outweigh the risk and resource devotion and we've not been able to justify it as of yet.

In that case, the Fender Play popup I close 15 times a day should pay the bill, no? "third-party" means they have to share the money with someone else.

Ha, nice. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not wild about that aggressive popup either particularly here in the Forums context ... but it's actually a pretty noble effort to get more folks playing - which in turn does serve us all in terms of keeping the hobby itself, and guitar-oriented music in general, at the forefront. (That's my obviously-biased explanation, anyway. :-) )

Thanks, Brad.
You’ve cleared up a number of questions I’ve had in my mind recently but had not voiced.

I am VERY glad for the steps you’ve taken in preservation of the board.

For whatever you think it’s worth, this is the longest I’ve ever lasted on a guitar forum before becoming frustrated and leaving due to the usual BS that typically kills boards.

My hat is off to you.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I am only now responding to the comments of my comments on the 27th (I think). For sure I'm old enough to have seen and been apart of the music scene starting in the 50's for me when my Mom brought home "Hound Dog" (flip side "Don't be cruel" EP). Went through the folk music era (which I still love) and got my first Strat in 1966. You can't bring that back. It was a time that was dynamic and Fender was a part of it (also a Fender Villager, Super Reverb, Twin Reverb and another Strat).

Just like I thought disco would bring down the guitar, it didn't happen. Hang in there and don't cave to fads. My son bought me a turntable and I'm listening to vinyl again. Happy New Year!

That's a great statement right there, BMW-KTM! REALLY appreciate the continuing enthusiasm.

I totally missed the notice about needing approval on my first post, but at least I didn't double post. I thought, did I accidentally hit cancel instead of submit?

It must be tough for one person to manage, especially if this isn't even a footnote in your job responsibilities.

That's great feedback, AppleFritter, thank you - and yes, I have a task in motion on beefing up that initial notification to make it clearer. (And welcome to the forums, by the way!)

Thankfully you'll find that it's a really solid group of folks here so it's not that taxing, really. Having a really thick skin also helps - haha. Granted, there are definitely certain weeks (such as this very one right here, for example) where my own service level isn't the very bestest. (There's a certain much-beloved trade show occurring next week, as it were. :D )

I remember the SPAM problem and appreciate how it has been mitigated.

There used to be all these SPAM threads and people would respond to them which only created more problems. Then some forum member would chastise that user for responding to SPAM when "everyone" knows we're supposed to ignore it. It was just a source of bad vibes and nobody needs that here.

I think it's a very well run forum and have no complaints. Rock on Brad.

Yeah, it was getting a little out of hand there for a while - definitely think the current configuration, while undoubtedly less than ideal, is still quite preferable to what we had previously!
