This topic is to post musical memories of 2017.

I was saddened when J Geils died last Spring, when Chuck Berry died at 90 (one of my earliest riffsters) and
Tom Petty's death was very shocking.

It was a good year for Blues, I learned a lot from some new blues players. (Fatback Deluxe, Danny Bryant, Joanne Shaw Taylor (Telemistress) and Wilson T King.

Well, those artists you listed are a worthy mention, Mike.

I know I could add more; but, the first ones that come to mind are the original song entries and many videos that keep us entertained and informed here in the Forum. 2017 was a stellar year of enjoyment, and I look forward to more in the coming year. :D

All influences on me.
In that order.

Others of note as well but not influential on me.
Allman
Holdsworth
Cornell

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

For me- a hendrix strat and a twin reverb made me happy. Sad to see so many of my music heroes passing. At least the music is still the fee for us to enjoy.

Congrats phreddybee. I picked up my Strat this evening, new jumbo frets and a brass nut. My Super Reverb was delivered last Thursday so I agree with you, I'm happy. The hit we took to the music world losing all those great artists made 2017 memorable but sad. I hope 2018 doesn't turn into another year of that.

Yep...sad to say Tom Petty's death had the most affect in my household. He has been my wife's and my common bond to music for nearly 32 years.
My wife especially was crushed; crying and nearly leaving work early---so disappointed that we never had a chance to see him and the Heartbreakers.

Most couples have "a special song", but my wife and I had "a special guy/band" and that was Mr. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
Just tragic.

For all the fallen musicians that have left us in 2017, it's a shame, but it happens to everyone.
I'm fortunate to have acquired the bass, and the amp I have in 2017. It kinda' makes it a good year, considering I survived it.
Here's hoping 2018 is a better year for everyone. God Bless. Image
