Your All Star Band:

Okay, gang. Gather your faves (dead or alive) and make an all-star band. No matter if they all fit or don’t fit into one sub-genre (most are multi-talented), so mix and match as you will. They should be rockers.

See the following example and make sure you add the position held beside the name of the musician. We don’t want any fights in the band.
Make as many bands as you like. I’ll start.

Vocal - Elvis
Backup trio - Janis Joplin, Grace Slick, Stevie Nicks
Lead - Jimi Hendrix
Rhythm - Keith Richards
Bass - John Entwhistle
Drums - Keith Moon
Keyboards - Billy Preston
Horn - Junior Walker (Sax)
Harmonica - Little Walter

Now it’s your turn to “take it”.
Have fun! :D
TIA

FSB

I hear ya, Rollie. A great group is great when the mojo is spread throughout. Sometimes the recipe doesn’t need any thing added or taken away.

I have a great fondness for background singers, their talent, and their trade. Many are unsung heroes, who never see the spotljght. Some backup singers like Kathy Westmoreland (Elvis) are well known, while a great many others even become famous like superstars Cher and Elton. They’re all worthy in my mind. Some more than others.

We all know the great songs by the Funk Brothers and the Wrecking Crew, and who can forget the great guest artists on some of the greatest recordings ever. Like Mick Jagger on Your So Vain with Carly Simon?

Actually, I stumbled on it and thought it was a good read that you might enjoy. Glad you did, SBLS, and I agree it looks pretty good.

Gotta love music history to go with the tunes. Often that’s why the liner notes are a bonus.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Any band with Paul Rodgers is worth it’s salt. IMHO. The rest of the lineup is complimentary too. Thanks, BMW-KTM.
