Random poll here: any interest in a new subforum primarily devoted to gear collecting? Rarities, limited editions, prototypes, one-offs, etc., both vintage and modern? Or would such a thing simply be pretentious and annoying to people here? :D

(Granted, this is admittedly a self-serving ask as I could easily see myself browsing such a thing.)

It’s all good info that could be handy and of interest, Brad. :D

It sounds like a great venue for "Guitar porn"!

I'd rather see a Performer's Corner and share band & gig stories and pics but I'll go
along with whatever the polls show.

I can't decide.
I mean, it does sound like a good place for nice pix but it seems like we could easily do that with just a sticky post.
Or two, whatever.
I'd much rather we expend that effort getting the video troubles sorted.
I finally got mine working and then the site went off.
I only enjoyed about a month or so.

Yeah it sounds like it could be a fun place to look a photos of gear collected. It would also be nice if fender were to host our photos, because after we fill up this new subforum with our photos of collected gear, and I do have a bunch of collected gear, then the place that is hosting our photos turns around and want $400 a year to do our hosting, and when we don't pay our photos disappear, and we are left with a lot of words with no photos. At that point the subforum becomes useless

On further consideration now that I’ve had time to think about it more:

The only concern I would have is whether some of the present, past, and future material would shift out of the present topics that we have been familiar with. That could be good or bad by diminishing the present topics as is. In some ways, the individual topics, as we know them, pretty much are targeted to specific interests, and those are easily covered. Those targets would likely be fragmented if and when collectables are lumped together should change come. We might want to prevent throwing out the baby with the bath water.

In the other hand, why stop at Collectables? Why not Custom? Modded? and so on?

Are other manufactured goods like Gibby, Gretsch, Rics, and so on to be included in collectables?

What’s a collectable? One’s belief may vary, although we all know there are some guidelines.

These are just some random thoughts and not to say either decision is good or bad, but, perhaps, the Forums would look like a coat of different colours. Hopefully, it’s a good look. :D

I also agree with mud. Before we move into a Collectable mode, we might want to be sure those photos (and, perhaps, less likely, videos) don’t go missing because comparisons and other interests may go down the tubes when such a referential group is established.

Thanks for the heads up on that - that should be resolved now!
