Man! Picking a go to song and album. Toughie. So many good ones. Here’s two.

Song:
Me and Mrs. Jones - Billy Paul

Album:
The Doors

Great thread concept, Mr. Nylon.

That's really too hard to pick one song, or even one album, to begin with! I listen to so much music and varied genres of it that sometimes I even get stuck in a rut to even know what I want to listen to. I might listen to and love one thing so much, but then not even listen to it for months because I'm on some other musical tangent.

I suppose if I had to pick one album it would be "Physical Graffiti" by Led Zeppelin. That's one that I always seem to gravitate to, no matter what I'm listening to.

I know what you guys are saying. The album for me is a bit close to a few others, Like "Led Zeppelin l". And the song could be close to another Mountain song, "Theme For An Imaginary Western".

Didn't Jack Bruce play that song, as well?

Jack Bruce wrote "Theme For An Imaginary Western", when he was still in Cream. It was never used in Cream because Eric Clapton, for what ever reason, didn't care to record it. So Jack recorded it on his second solo album, "Songs For A Tailor". Jack's first solo album, "Things We Like", was released a year later. Felix Pappalardi produced "Songs For A Tailor".
Mountain covered the song, making it famous at Woodstock. Then recording it in 1970 on Mountain's first album, "Climbing". I know I'll never forget hearing it live at my first Mountain concert I was at. Felix knew a good song, and sang it well also.

"Theme For An Imaginary Western", was played at Jack's funeral. RIP JB. 10/25/2014

What Felix did for Mountain's cover on "Theme For An Imaginary Western", was like what Hendrix did with Dylan's "All Along The Watchtower".
