Playboy founder Hugh Hefner dead at 91.

Like him or hate him. Hefner inspired journalists and was influential in many ways.

RIP Hef...

A little trivia - back in the 60's the Grateful Dead played a party at the Playboy mansion
and someone spiked their drinks with acid - they claimed it was a fun gig but didn't play much music.

Well, he didn't play bass here.

Could he play? (Watch after the first fade to black).

Now ya know.

Thank you for posting FSB.
R.I.P. Hugh Hefner.
The giant of the sexual revolution has moved on. His Playboy empire was a breath of rarified air.

The Chaplain use to confiscate Playboy magazines from the lockers on my destroyer. Complaints ran from “I like the Grannie cartoons” to confessions of reading stories about the British Invasion, and checking out astronaut interviews.

Thankfully, Arthur C. Clarke got his first start as many budding soon to be famous authors did. Later I would go on to buy their pocket books.

Okay, I admit the bunnies got in the way of this teenager staring at the Cold War and looking for some solace; but, the Chaplin set me right.

He made us write home to Mom, the wives, or the girlfriends. He insisted and collected the letters to make sure.

Forget about writing Dad. He was probably catching up on the latest Playboy NCAA predictions or the recent Jazz release. :P
And you all thought it was about the centrefold.
Well, okay. Some centrefolds ended up on locker doors - until the Chaplin showed up.

The late Comic book artist Jack Cole who created Plastic Man, did some work for Playboy in the 1950's before he committed suicide . My wife who was previously married for 15 years before she met me, told me that her late husband had a collection of every issue dating all the way to the very 1st which had Marilyn Monroe on the cover. She said when he passed that she took them all and threw them away. When I heard this I told her what are you nuts ? That 1st issue alone is a collector's item fetching on condition alone , several thousand dollars.
