Why Can't We Post YouTube Videos in the Lounge Any More???
Below is a YouTube video address for the "Eric Johnson Lesson (The Art of Guitar) Instructional Video".
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2VSH9h3MQ4
Immediately below this sentence, the same YouTube address is posted using Board script " " before and after the YouTube address, which should allow for the youtube video to appear below.
(SCROLL DOWN).

As you can see, the YouTube video fails to appear in the space above.
When I tried to post a video a few days ago in the Lounge, a Fender notice was provided that "Flash" is no longer supported in the Fender Lounge.
Now, a notice is no longer provided; the video just fails to appear.
YouTube now uses "HTML5" for its default player in most modern browsers including Chrome, Internet Explorer 11, Safari 8, and Firefox.
So why can't we post a YouTube video in the Fender Lounge???

My over half a year of Youtube problems ended when the pop-up started.
Your post works fine for me.
Looks right.
Plays right.

I knew all along it wasn't my computer.
It's prolly not yours either.
Something to do with international differences.

I'm using IE11 in Windows 10 (upgrade / Creator edition 1703).
For some reason, the video fails to appear using this combination.
The Lounge posting above, appears on my computer as in the following picture:

Image
As I noted, when I posted a YouTube video in a different thread a few days ago, a non-working picture of the YouTube video appeared with a message that Flash was no longer supported.
Now, for some inexplicable reason, the video fails to appear on my computer using IE11, as shown in the picture above.
YouTube does play normally using IE11 outside of the Fender Lounge, I assume using HTML5.

Using MS Edge and Chrome, the video loads slowly in the above thread, but does appear in the Fender Lounge.
So the bottom line is that if you are using IE11, you may not be able to see a YouTube video posted in the Fender Lounge.
Just wondering, is anyone using IE11 able to see the YouTube video posted in the first post above??

Repeat test with W10 using IE 11...

edited to add - both seemed to load quick and as usual.

That is exactly the problem I had for many months.
A lonely white place where the video should have been.
No links in the white space, nothing clickable, just empty space.
I have made no changes to my computer recently.
I made a gazzillion changes many months ago when I was trying to solve it.
Nothing worked.
I just ended up putting everything back how it was before the problem started and learned to live with no video.
The videos all played perfectly fine until one day they didn't.

I'm willing to bet it's not your computer.
You likely didn't change anything.
The web site did change though.
Now there are pop-ups.
I don't pretend to know what it could be but it must be something very remote and mostly insignificant because only you and I have had this issue.
Most people say everything is fine.
Everything is fine for me .... now.
Whatever little switch got flipped when they added the pop-up changed things for us both.

I made no changes.
Suddenly it works.
You made no changes (I presume)
Suddenly it stops working.

It's the website and Brad's IT guy doesn't know what or why.
For me it all started when the different versions of stuff for different countries was implemented.

I’m betting country regulations not only are playing, but will in the future play, havoc with this. There may be other reasons more simple or more complicated to consider.

I’m going to play devil’s advocate here. In the name of national security, and with the dealings that Facebook is dealing with in recent investigations, today’s freedom of information and the control of it will be changing at a faster rate. Government control of media is pretty tight throughout. However, the Net is a loose screw that governments and industry worldwide want and need to meet their satisfaction. Unfortunately, a lot of lost used to bes will become wannabees to no avail. Strap in for a bumpy ride and don’t expect to know the route planned by others.

The Internet and all its offerings are sure to change erratically where one omission affects another willy nilly, and a lot of it will be unexpected, and these technical faux pas may not necessarily be part of the game plan.

As long as there is no set standard, universal system, or predictable technological future we’ll continue to operate in a cloud.
Meanwhile we’ll swing like Quasimodo.

YMMV

As for the Forum, for the most part, I think Brad and Fender swing pretty good.

This seems to be Win10/IE11/html5 (or other codecs)/YouTube/this forum related thing. Embedded YouTube videos show just fine on other sites, not on Fender forums.

Neither your Edge on IE11 posted vids show to me on W10/IE11. Same with all of the above vid posts.

More applause for Microsoft. First let me say that I use iOS, less Android by choice, and Windows. I use Android simply to familiarize myself with the competition’s OS. I caved against my long held distaste for Apple and I now use iOS on the phone and my wife’s iPad; but not as a fan boy that would stand in line for Apple’s latest mundane announcements and unfounded hype. So much to like and so much . . . well, you get the idea. They are part of my toolbox and, depending on the project, I’ll choose my tool.

I’ve used Windows since 3.1 and, when I lived a stone’s throw away from Bill Gates, I took Microsoft classes 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, for a year.

I could go on about my hardware and software skills (including 3D CAD), but I’ll simplify it. I’ve changed MS OSs several times and very often it was simply because of the MS browser updates or dropped Internet formats. The Internet browser dictated the need to change one’s OS. Security or lack off comes and goes. Not much has changed, at least in the world of Microsoft. Firefox, for a time, can help but even that can have it’s aches and pains depending on your needs.

Say what you will about Vista. I get it. But, I’m running several DAWs, plugins, Fuse, amp modellers. and more just fine. My days of running Doom (sic) are past me so I don’t need liquid cooling and the latest greatest. Not knockin’ it, I’m into other adventures now.

To get to MS’s latest OS it requires a hardware change for me. That becomes an inconvenience that is not money related. I chose my current hardware to meet my demand. Newer gear can be a compromise. Eventually the day will come where new hardware will present a newer version of MS that is not available now, if I buy into it.

Lemme see. At this moment I can run Vista, IE 9, Google Chrome, and (for security) Firefox. Guess what. The Forums’ YouTube videos work fine. That is all the ones that aren’t prohibited by YouTube. I think I’ll pass on W10/IE11 for now.

I know that W10 or any other OS have their successes. A perfect OS or browser is, however, still in the Twilight Zone.
YMMV. :D

FSB
Note: I haven’t tried the Forum YouTubes on Android and have no need to for the moment. iOS no problem.

Nay on Win10&IE11, yay on the same PC with MS Edge.
But as said, the forum has something to do with this, too - embedded YouTubes show elsewhere with both browsers. :?

BTW, isn't anyone using Windows2000 anymore..? With a Pentium, of course.
