If it makes you feel any better, he hails from this town here and comes back to visit. My sister-in-law and brother-in-law went to school with him, and I've never met Neil. But. I know this guy Marky. :P

Apparently, Nevin is Neil's friend.

I remember when Milli Vanilli were exposed. I thought about this, and, sad to say, because I love the Wrecking Crew’s work, a similar scenario occurred where some misleading albums had fans believing the artist(s) were responsible for the instrumentation when, in fact, they were not. On some of the greatest albums ever made the Crew did not (intentionally) get recognized for their ghost participation of playing the music. Like Milli Vanilli the rock groups got the credit for something they did not do.

Awards were given and accepted over time with no return, others followed, and still
more likely do today, and will in the future. Easy peasy when sampling goes by uncredited.

True about Paul Simon’s stage name ‘Jerry Landis’. He replaced the lead vocalist of the Mystics in 1960, but in 1962 left and again changed his name to Tico (and the Triumps). Their ‘62 hit “Motorcycle” was a favourite of mine that year, and because it’s posted it on the thread “Your Motorcycle Songs” I’ll give you one of many Tico’s songs. This one’s found on the flip side of Motorcycle. It was a minor hit too:

Because many artists moonlighted for extra cash, or because they desired to leave a bad contract behind, they would often record under different names, sometimes at competing companies. I can’t say if this was the case here though.

Now ya know. :D
