Lots of great stories in your December 14th post mud.

Of particular interest was the historical Cavern Club. I was there in mid ‘65. I knew it reopened; but, until now, I did not know about the extent of it’s reconstruction.

Thanks, for posting these facts.

Iron Butterfly's classic album, "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" is certified Gold. Today it is a multi-platinum album with sales of over 25 million copies." Saw this band in late spring/early summer '68 in, except for a dozen of us scattered throughout, an empty 2000 seat theater, they were amazing. And, in Nov. '68 to a packed kinetic playground, they were amazing again.

That must have been a treat to see Iron Butterfly, SBLS. I would have enjoyed that too. In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida was a loop in my mind in those days. :D
As for the Cavern Club. I and a mate made it to Liverpool and, since we only had one day to visit, our stay at the packed shoulder to shoulder Cavern Club was short but worth it. If I recall correctly it was down an alley like road and a pub was nearby across from it where people came and went to and from the establishments. The Club was dark and dingy and had several rooms with open doorways, and the sound was cavernous. Being strangers, we didn’t recognize the bands, so we never knew if we walked in front of fame (but we might have); however, the music was awesome as bands played for a set or two, and they all setup and tore down on risers so the next one could perform, perhaps, waiting to be discovered. The place did indeed rock. I expected to see Austin Powers and Twiggy to come around the corner.
