I bought a Mexico Classic 50s. The idea was that I would modify this (with a warmoth neck) making it look more of a 70s strat with black picguard mics and so on. I bought Seymour duncans and dimarzio. Fender gold hardware etc..

But the thing is. This classic 50 is so good and nice that I just do not have the heart to change anything (apart from the tremolo block). The neck i awesome and it actually got flame maple (was lucky with this one).

I have a Custom Shop 57 made back in '92, a US vintage 62 and a Standard Deluxe from 89 and I must say that the mexican one is up on pair with theese guitars. :) Love it! Trouble is I have all this parts and a warmoth neck so I guess I have to just buy a new body to build this guitar as Ill keep my MIM 50 the way it is. :D :D

I know what you mean by not wanting to make a change to an already fine guitar. I feel the same way about trading for another axe as opposed to adding a different one. I tend to buy what makes me happy upon purchase; but. there is a lot of competition to contend with. There are plenty of players here in the Forums that regretted changing or losing their original. Besides, sometimes it is an emotional attachment like losing a friend.

Enjoy your MIM Classic 50s, and your new project.

Tell you what.
This is your lucky day.
I'll give you TWO MIMs for your CS 57.
For real.
If they're on par you're getting double.
Deal?
I'm serious.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I have a clasic 50s Tele and it rocks, got birdseye maple neck, I'm very happy with it and wouldn't make any changes to it. Likewise with my Clasic 60s Tele.
