teles are light and pingy, perfect for cuntry hicks (no offence to telecasters, some serious rock bands use 'em too...)

Maybe instead of watching so much television you two should practice your grammar and spelling!

Telecasters are the classic country guitar because of the TWANG!

The Tele's are known for it's tinny sound which country guitarist look for. Granted Jimmy Page was known to use the Tele for Led Zep I. Most rockers prefer the Strat.

Well little girl I actually won't have to "deal with it". You will though if you plan on going through life being uneducated and ignorant. Have more pride in yourself!

Actually, I'm seeing a lot more Gibsons in country vids these days. Maybe moving the factory and HQ from Kalamazoo, Michigan to Nashville has started to pay dividends.

I chalk it up to country players having good taste. On the serious, mostly because the Tele makes "the Tele sound" that is undeniably a staple in country music tradition.

The telecaster is a great rock guitar, that bridge is a work of genius it growls and twangs at the same time. O.k im not too fond of the lipstick neck but thats just my taste. A design thats lasted 57 years relatively unchanged, its got to be a winner.

is that cuz (due to the) sound or is it just a pop choice?

You'd likely have to ask a Nashville player that question. I would speculate that the 'twang' of a tele falls in harmony with the sound of many of the acoustic instruments indigenous to that region of the country and the roots music from which country music has sprung...and that.....is very much Scotch-Irish in origin. Also ask how Hawaiian and eventually pedal steel guitar become enfolded within that genre.

If you haven't taken the time to really look closedly, the Tele is finding favor with many of the bands of your generation. I believe it is becoming the "strat'' of 21st century 'pop'.
