I don't expect this thread too last long, but I just want to get a few opinions, and maybe a few others have bought something similar and used it.

I play my guitar, both standing up and often sitting down. I find that when I practice, I prefer sitting down, just because it's more relaxed, and "kick back". But I also play standing up, if I'm playing with other people (although I sometimes sit down for that too). I have a bad back and standing up for long periods of time, sometimes can set my back off.

When I play sitting down it's on a sofa, or a chair (with arm rests) that can get in the way of the guitar neck, and guitar cables.

So.......if you've have some any special chairs or other such things, you use, while playing guitar......pass some ideas over to me.

I have a bar chair thing I use. It's essentially an ultra-modern bar stool. It has a pneumatic lift like an office chair, an extra-wide seat, with back.

I don't know the brand, but it was kind of expensive.

The ones I'm looking at are about $100, and I'm willing to pay that. I'm also looking at a rotation feature, so that I can swivel.

Mine was a gift, but I've been told that it was around $250. I thought that was a bit steep.

I usually practice on the couch. But I do have a simple drum throne to sit on when I'm playing out and my legs get tired. I went to a store and asked for the cheapest throne they had. It was around $30. Brand is PDP or something like that. Reliable.

Never thought of a drum throne. And they swivel too. Thanks

Hello Skylops,

I sit on an old piano stool,
each leg ends with a claw
holding a clear glass ball.

It was given to me by a
neighbor who used it
when he was a child.

I also use a wee tiny
stool to raise my left
foot about 4 inches.

Cheers.

I use a Tama drum throne because you can adjust the height to what feels comfortable at the time. The one I have is very steady and has a nice round seat on it. I think this one was like 80. so no to bad price.

Thanks for the thought on the piano stool. I used to take piano lessons as a kid, and I had one of those wooden piano stools. They got painful on my butt, after some time. Maybe because I have a boney butt. Anway.....I think I like the idea of a padded seat. Besides, I'm older than dirt, and I need a little comfort in the twilight of my life. But a padded stool would work. Been looking a lot at those online.

Yeah.........the drum stool is looking very good, so far, as well as the guitar stools I'm seeing online.

I've got a bad back too, and have been thinking of getting a drum throne with a back support
A stool is just going to hurt after a while
I saw some company was making a chair with an amp built into it that looked comfy, but can't remember who

I've used my computer office chair for guitar at times, but it's a little big. That's why I was thinking of searching for something more specific for being used as a guitar stool. So far, the ones I've seen online are looking best, as well as the drum throne idea. I'll have to check out some drum thrones, next time I'm at Guitar Center.

My Tama throne must have at least 3 inches of padding on it but it is not to soft that it does not give ya good support. I always thougt they were best since as you no a drummer is bottom down all the time and good ones are made very steady.
