Hello,

First...hello, new forum user here. Please let me know if this topic fits better in a different section. My apologies if I posted incorrectly. Thank you!!

Okay...so I'd really like to use my Hot Rod Deville 410 with just 2 of it's speakers (rewired for proper ohm ratings) and then use a separate amp head with the other 2 remaining speakers. I'm thinking a MESA or something with a slightly "different" drive channel, as well as something uniquely different for stereo cleans, etc...

I'm having trouble understanding what type of amp head to search for...as far as power ratings, ohms, etc...

Could anyone give any thoughts on what type of amp head would work well with just 2 of the speakers from the HRD 4x10 cab?

Thank you, please let me know if I've made this question difficult to understand?

More answer in the right section ; Modern amps

Hot Rod 410 need to see 8 ohms speaker load.

I don't know how you can wire two 8 ohms speakers to have 8 ohms.
You will have 4 or 16 ohms !

Or you must use both speaker outputs, internal and external.
Be careful to not blow the speakers, HR may need four spkrs for maximum power output

I wonder if you were to physically disconnect the + & - wires from 2 of the 4 speakers (and tape the ends so they don't accidentally touch), would the amp still run 8 ohms each to the remaining 2 speakers?

I have zero knowledge in "amp modifications"...just thinking out loud. Never had a reason to modify an amp, since there is just about everything a person is looking for in an amp already built in in one model/brand or another.
