Imagine my surprise, when I logged on to Fender Forums, and noticed my avatar was gone---replaced with one that said "Please Update 3rd. Party Hosting".
So I go to PhotoBucket to see what that meant. Apparently, it means now; if you wish to share/use any of your photos....you have to upgrade to PhotoBucket 500, which is a PAID version.
And now, if you don't upgrade; there are a MINIMUM of 4 pop-up ad's every time you make a move.

Didn't bother to check what the cost is to upgrade...just closed a bunch of ad's so I could log out and close the window.

Yep...PhotoBucket officially blows!

I dumped Photobucket a long time ago. All of these sites suck. As has been stated over and over, for the convenience and security of your users, the forum should host pictures locally. We sit here and look at the ads they post on the forum, so it's not a free ride.

I belong to the Taylor Unofficial Guitar Forum. Even they host their own pictures. C'mon Fender, prove you're not just a money grubbing corp., yeah I know I'm dreaming.

Recently received an email from Photobucket (which I haven't used, visited, nor maintained in ages) saying "Your photos exceed the maximum allowed space for 'free' service, your attention is required".
So; I went to Photobucket, deleted the few photos I had on there, and told Photobucket Support to delete my account. Do not contact me for verification or any other reason, just delete the account attached to my email address and screen name.
I honestly don't want to hear from them ever again. What a bunch of morons that had their site hacked and held for ransom...and then want us common folk to pay for their lack of security?!?
They weren't all that good to begin with...and they certainly aren't the only game in town. I hope they lose so many accounts they go belly up, and cease to exist.

There! I said my piece, and I do feel better about it.

I dropped them years ago, and went with Imgur.com. No problems here. Image

Yeah, that was a good recommendation from you. That site works fine for posting pics here.

Yah; I have an Imgur account too. 8)
I TRY to be a "glass half full" guy (I really do)...but the rampant world-wide greed (especially U.S. businesses) has me skeptical of any business these days---everyone seems to want more, and more of your money for the same service.
I'll use Netflix as an example. I have had Netflix since 2011 (eight years). In 2011 when I signed up, it was $7.99 a month. Just recently, I received an email that they are raising the monthly subscription to $12.99---that is $5.00 in 8 years (at a dollar at a time throughout the 8 years). Granted, they HAVE gotten better (creating Netflix Originals)...but they've also taken on ten's (if not hundred's) of millions of more customers as well. They just want more and more.
How long do you think Imgur and Flickr are going to be free? Hopefully forever...but you just never know these days.
